File:Химические свойства бензолсульфохлорида.png
The structure labeled "6" is incorrect. The problem has been fixed by the original uploader, but with a different file name (File:Химические свойства бензолсульфохлорида (испр.).png). This incorrect version should therefore be deleted. Marbletan (talk) 12:43, 20 April 2026 (UTC)

File:4-Flourobenzoic Acid 2.png
Not-large and low graphical quality. Have [[:File:4-Fluorobenzoic acid.svg] as high-quality replacement. DMacks (talk) 04:46, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
File:REACT DALAPON.png
Unidentied image, neither here nor in its 13-year-abandoned-draft use. While there might be "dalapon" buried in here somewhere, it's really a large protein being illustrated but nobody seems to know what. We have plenty of Category:Dalapon itself. DMacks (talk) 04:44, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
File:DALAPONCHEM.png
Uneven bond angles. Have File:Dalapon.svg as a more-standard diagram DMacks (talk) 04:42, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
File:Struktura dioksetu.jpg
Low quality jpg, there is File:Dioxete.svg as a replacement. Wostr (talk) 19:16, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
File:Estructura linoangular de la vanil·lina- 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde.png
Very low graphical quality compared with many in Category:Vanillin. Pixelated, bonds uneven lengths and angles, and some not pointing to correct atom in a condensed group. DMacks (talk) 16:35, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
File:Dodecanoic acidSynthesis.png
Poor alignment ("H3BO3" over its arrow), vs replacement File:Synthesis of 1,12-dodecanedioic acid.svg that is also generally higher quality DMacks (talk) 05:54, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
File:Nitrosylschwefelsäure.png
en:Nitrosonium is presumably more stable as a triple-bond (and citedly so), which places the + on O. Have File:NO(HSO4).svg. Or if we really wanted to talk about the resonance of it in this specific context rather than in the article about the ion itself, we have File:Strukturformel Nitrosylschwefelsäure V1.svg DMacks (talk) 21:25, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
File:Nitrosylsulfuric acid structure.svg
Incorrect structure, it should be [NO]+ [HSO4]-. Nucleus hydro elemon (talk) 04:09, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- The same reason applies to:
- Nucleus hydro elemon (talk) 04:12, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- Mixed. Some of these are in-use. Please remove or replace them with the more-correct structures. Is there any place where this incorrect covalent form is discussed? If so, it would be worthwhile to retain one high-quality skeletal-strucure of it, clearly labeled on its description-page so nobody thinks it is correct. Even if so, the 3D should be deleted as pure fantasy, again unless there is actual discussion of the 3D form (must not let high graphical quality and striking appearance blind us to falsehoods and resulting lack of EDUSE). DMacks (talk) 23:39, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
- In particular:
- Keep File:Nitrosylsulfuric acid structure.svg, which I have now used on en:Talk:Nitrosylsulfuric acid as staging for potential inclusion in that article. But consider renaming to ... (incorrect structure).
- Delete the rest, because File:NO(HSO4).svg is the correct structure. I've replaced all their remaining uses after verifying the intended meaning.

- begin of transclusion from "Commons:Categories for discussion/2023/02/Category:Chemical structures":
Category:Chemical structures
this cat is now mixing cats of chemical compounds and cats of chemical diagrams together. for example, Category:Sodium chloride NaCl is a specific compound existing in the real world. Category:Chemical formulas are manmade diagrams that represent something. now they're mixed up as "structures".
but i dont have no solution to how to untangle this mess. RZuo (talk) 14:21, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- @RZuo: Well I certainly don't have an overall solution either, but there are a few distinct observations:
- Diagrams of chemical structures and Visualizations of molecules should exist as subcategories of Chemical structures, as these are media type categories depicting chemical structures.
- Chemistry diagrams and Structure diagrams do not seem to be proper parents of Chemical structures--instead, it would seem it should be the parent of Diagrams of chemical structures.
- Structure should replace Structure diagrams as a parent of this category.
- Chemical substances is the seemingly correct parent of this category. Any files showing a substance without enough granularity to reveal its chemical structure should be pushed up to that level.
- There is more to do and probably some expert assessment of the contents to implement fully, but this is a start. Josh (talk) 06:36, 5 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think there is an overall idea of "structure" to chemistry. My (limited) understanding is that a chemical structure can refer to the spatial arrangement of atoms within a molecule and the chemical bonds that hold them together, and cam describe how the atoms are connected and oriented in three-dimensional space. In other words, its an overarching category. - Chris.sherlock2 (talk) 23:11, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Not done: no valid reason for deletion of this category. --ChemSim (Talk) 16:35, 21 August 2025 (UTC)
- end of transclusion
as pointed out in the previous unresolved (and imprudently closed) cfd, certain subcats dont seem to belong here. Chemical structure: "chemical structure of a molecule is a spatial arrangement of its atoms and their chemical bonds..." for example, "(in)organic compounds" are "chemical substances", not about a certain spatial arrangement. RoyZuo (talk) 15:39, 26 August 2025 (UTC)
- "There is more to do and probably some expert assessment of the contents to implement fully... 5 February 2023"
- has that been done to resolve the problems at hand? RoyZuo (talk) 15:43, 26 August 2025 (UTC)
Support fixing this. Most notably, ultravague terms such as "diagrams" and "charts" should be avoided. See Commons:Categories for discussion/2025/08/Category:Structure diagrams. Taylor 49 (talk) 19:38, 26 August 2025 (UTC)

The calcium atoms ("Ca") in two places should be carbons ("C"). The positive charge on hydrogen (H+) should be instead on the adjacent nitrogen (N+). Marbletan (talk) 17:47, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

File:3D Sodium caprylate.png
Incorrect structure: sodium is not covalently bound. Leyo 00:02, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- This looks to have been changed. Though I would like to see the anion drawn more like what you see in File:Ammonium-acetate-3D-balls.png with a dotted line across the two oxygens. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:37, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
- Ball-and-stick models absolutely need to have an accurate geometry and size of atoms. Otherwise, they are misleading like in this case. Hence, still
