Commons supporte actuellement le téléversement de médias spatiaux (autres que des données géospatiales sous forme de tableaux ou de cartes) dans un seul type de média, stl (voir Commons:Project scope/Types de fichiers autorisés). Une arborescence de catégories est en cours de développement pour ce type de fichiers déjà téléversés. Cependant, puisque le format STL était initialement conçu pour la fabrication assistée par ordinateur (en particulier la [[w:Stéréolithographie|stéréolithographie), les fichiers sont non-texturés et ne contiennent donc pas de couleur ou d'autres capacités de rendu texturels. La prise en charge d'autres formats a été proposée.
A growing category tree is developing for those files already uploaded, and at least one bot is doing imports. However, as the STL format was originally designed for computer-aided manufacturing (specifically, stereolithographic processes), the files are untextured and therefore cannot display colours or other modern material-rendering capabilities. Supporting other formats has been proposed.
