English: The first officially discovered human fossil in the Sima de los Huesos in 1976 was a jaw, and was designated AT-1. It was found by members of the Torres under a layer containing bones of a deningeri ursus, an ancestor of the cave bear, thus evealing the great antiquity of the site. |
