Summary
| Description |
English: Wadi Rum is a spectacularly scenic desert valley in southern Jordan. Masses of soaring cliffs and sandstone and granite mountains. Wadi Rum is Arabic for "Roman Valley", or "Valley of the Rum", as the Greeks (or East Romans) were called in the early Byzantine era by Arab people, probably referring to Christian Byzantine monastic or ascetic communities in the area. The area has been used as a background setting in a number of films (Red Planet, Prometheus, The Martian, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and many more).
Русский: Вади Рам — пустыня в Иордании. Каменистая пустыня, песчаник и гранит, отдельные сухие деревья и кустарники, горы, каньоны, провалы и возвышенности. |
