- They're all restored, though you may need to poke me if it's redeleted by the time you set up the OTRS stuff. Adam Cuerden (talk) 20:49, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Autopatrol
Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account. This will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to help users watching RecentChanges to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones. Thank you. Martin H. Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:38, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Wrong file
Hi, I have a question for you as an administrator. I accidentally clicked on the wrong file during the upload process for File:Brian Fahey (ice hockey).jpg is there a way to move it to the proper name of Tomas Fleischmann or should I nominate this page for deletion? Thanks--Leech44 (talk) 15:21, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
- I moved it for you: File:Tomas Fleischmann 3.jpg. There was already a photo at the name you suggested, so I had to put a 3 at the end.--Chaser (talk) 15:35, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

OTRS
Hi, could you have a look at this? The ticket is locked to your account. Jcb (talk) 11:24, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Don't bite the newcomer!
This is the first experience I've had uploading anything to Wikipedia Commons. I hardly know what I'm doing and obviously doing it wrong. If you want to delete what was uploaded, please go ahead, but please be nicer. This lousy t-shirt (talk) 00:26, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't really think I bit you, but whatever. I do see that I forgot to drop a note about tagging File:NewYearsHersheyKissDrop.jpg. Sorry about that. But if you've been around enough to know about WP:BITE, you ought to know about copyright and licensing on Wikimedia projects. Is there anything specific I can help you with?--Chaser (talk) 00:33, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes! Specifically, I'm trying to beautify the article w:List of objects dropped on New Year's Eve on Wikipedia with photographed pictures of some of the more famous ball drops. I've tried looking through the material already uploaded here. I'm aware that copyrighted material must be used with permission and identified, no problem with that. What I'm confused about is WHO EXACTLY OWNS the copyright to some of these images? Some of it isn't properly identified on the websites where the pictures are used! This lousy t-shirt (talk) 01:08, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Google images and Flickr's advanced image searches both allow you to narrow your search by license. Assuming those uploading and labelling the images own the copyright to them, you're looking for images with licenses that permit derivative works and commercial re-use. See Commons:Licensing for more details.--Chaser (talk) 01:13, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Very appreciated. THANK YOU! :) This lousy t-shirt (talk) 01:20, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Chaser,
you speedy-rationale/comment ("OTRS client is fine with having it just on ENWP") is not totally clear to me. Does the rights holder expressedly object to having the logo on Commons? Is the logo on :en under fair-use or under a different license than on Commons? --Túrelio (talk) 11:17, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't have access to the link for the ticket anymore, so going from memory, I think the permission was insufficient (giving permission to publish it on Wikipedia, or something like that). I marked it as OTRS received and uploaded it as fair use on ENWP. I told the client what I did and indicated having it fair use on ENWP was what we needed to do to include it in the English Wikipedia article. I suggested since it was in the article, we didn't need to pursue proper permission for Commons. The client agreed to just do fair use, so I tagged the image for speedy.--Chaser (talk) 18:15, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Self-published
Yeah, that's not me, I've just been copying and pasting the formatting for a while now and always stuck with the old template. I'll use the new one for the future. Enjoy the new year. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talk • contrib) 23:05, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
