"Hrast" (oak) is one of the oldest traditional Slav simbols. The three of oak was located in the very center of Slavs village and that was the place for every important meeting, decision and celebration. That three was also called "zapis". Just before Christmas, every orthodox Serb's house gets an oak branch (known as "badnjak") as a simbol of prosperity.
