Various/no metadata, weird compression, varying quality, varying resolution. Doubtful claim of own work, however original photos have not been located.

- Yeah, these are *my* photos that *I* took in Cambodia during my visits in 2022 and 2024. What is it I have to do? MoonsMoon (talk) 02:19, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, so now it's all my photos? Why can't I do what I want to with my own photos? MoonsMoon (talk) 02:31, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- What's the problem...? MoonsMoon (talk) 03:02, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- I have another notification about this. If somebody could please tell me what the issue is then that'd be great. MoonsMoon (talk) 03:11, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, I tried to post this somewhere else but it's telling me I have to post here? I don't know what metal data is. I'm not sure how to compress or not compress a photo, at least I don't think I do. Can you please tell how that happens? Once I understand it's likely I'll be able to fix the issues. I don't know how you've decided I stole somebody's work, but I have a Google Pics album of my November/December 2024 trip to Cambodia that I'll happily give you access to if somebody tells me how exactly to do that. How can I possibly address this if you've decided I've stolen somebody's photos but can't defend myself? I've noticed there aren't a lot of photos for Cambodia-related articles and I just want to help out with it since it's an interest of mine. But again, I don't understand what exactly I've done that makes people want to delete my photos. MoonsMoon (talk) 03:52, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- Alright, deep breaths. This time is, in fact, the time for you to defend yourself. You say you have a Google Pics album, I'd share it with COM:VRT to prove that these are, in fact, your images. TansoShoshen (talk) 04:49, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- I'm still not sure what to do. Can somebody just TELL ME so I could do it? MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 22:48, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- So what, I'm supposed to email them...? There's an overwhelming amount of info on that page yet none of it says what I need to do. MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 23:19, 15 November 2025 (UTC)

- @MoonsMoon I do believe you are the photographer of these photos, but as TansoShoshen stated in their nomination, the EXIF metadata did indicated some of them were downloaded from Google Pics albums and Facebook. These means these are not the "original" photos, so we will need you to verify these photographs are indeed yours, which you can do this by contacting/emailing COM:VRT, as mentioned above.
- On a side note, even though the name of this process is "deletion request", it doesn't necessarily mean "these images have to be deleted", sometimes it means "there are some issues with these images that needs to be solved". So, you don't need to worry much if you are indeed the photographer and can verify as such.
- Thank you for your contributions and your cooperation. Tvpuppy (talk) 15:21, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah, I still don't get it. MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 22:49, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- Can you just tell me what I need to do? MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 23:20, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- @MoonsMoon Yes, there are 2 methods to do this.
- Method 1 (preferred method), you can upload the "original" version of the photographs, which means the photos you have taken with your camera, which should be higher quality. As the images we have here appears to be the "download" version from Google Pics or Facebook, which is lower quality.
- Method 2 (if you can't do method 1), you can go to COM:VRT/CONSENT, and click the "Use the Interactive Release Generator!" button. Fill out the answer of the interactive form. At the end, the form will generate an email (with your answers) which you can send to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Within a couple days (or maybe longer), a VRT agent should contact you, and possibly they might ask further questions for you to answer. If the VRT agent has verified that you are the photographer, then they will let us know by adding a tag to your images.
- Thank you for your patience and feel free to ask questions here if needed. Tvpuppy (talk) 00:48, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- Ahh, I indeed downloaded the pics from Facebook and my Google Pics as a shortcut.
- Quick question: May I still crop or brighten the (original) photos before uploading them here without compromising the quality? MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 01:08, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- @MoonsMoon It is recommended to upload both the original version and the edited (e.g. cropped or brighten) version as two separate images. This means that:
- a) we could verify the edited version is indeed from the original version
- b) in the future, other users may decide to use the unedited version to do their own edits
- You can link the version together by adding their links (e.g. File:Example.png) in the
|other versions=field of the image description. Thank you. Tvpuppy (talk) 01:22, 16 November 2025 (UTC)- Appreciate you, thanks. MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 01:26, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oh also, I have to convert it from png to jpg. Does that compromise the quality of the photo? MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 01:29, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- @MoonsMoon Is the original file in PNG format? Then, you should upload both the PNG (original) and JPG version, and add the {{PNG with JPEG version}} template to the PNG version. This is because some quality will be lost (which should be minor) when converting from PNG to JPG. Thank you. Tvpuppy (talk) 01:56, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! Also, I need to modify the captions of a couple of my photos but it gives me a scary disclaimer about "releasing (my) rights" to it if I do that? But weren't I already doing that? MoonsMoon MoonsMoon 01:41, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- @MoonsMoon The disclaimer is referring to the text (i.e. captions) you are editing. I believe most of the text on this site (e.g. file descriptions, discussion pages, or even this comment itself) is licensed under CC-BY-SA-4.0 and GFDL. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 02:09, 17 November 2025 (UTC)

- Strong keep This is not a reason to delete. Even if, as you said, Sergei Savostyanov of TASS is not working for the government, does that make the license invalid? The license clearly states: “This file comes from the website of the President of the Russian Federation and is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License.” In short, you are free to distribute and modify the file as long as you attribute www.kremlin.ru. So, what exactly, in your point of view, is the reason you nominated it for deletion? HurricaneEdgar 02:52, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
