Willem Meijers moest van school en is naar Nederlands-Indië vertrokken om daar als accountant geld te verdienen. 10 januari 1903 trouwde hij in Semarang met Elisabeth van Steenbrugge. Zij was als gouvernante met een Nederlandse familie meegekomen. Willem en Elisabeth kregen een dochter, Rosine Marie, op 3 april 1904. N.P.G.-papier is afkomstig van N.V. Kramats Apotheek en Handel in Photographie-artikelen te Batavia.
