File:10cm empty tape reel, made in Lithuania 02.jpg

Summary

Description
English: 10-centimeter (4 in) reels for magnetic audio tape, made in Lithuania (then in the Soviet Union) at the Vinius Plastics Factory (lt: Vilniaus plastmasiniu oirbiniu camykla). Late 1960s (the box had "28.4.1969" handwritten). Holds 100 meters of regular-thickness tape.
Small-sized 10cm, 13cm, 15cm were common in the 1950s and the 1960s, when tape was expensive and tape speeds, accordingly, very low. Eventually, home taping market settled on much larger 18-cm / 550-meter reels.
