Remove the bold and enlarged text from the {{{desc}}} value, since these paragraphs typically form the lead of each template documentation.

I found Template:Not public domain/doc incredibly hard to read, and yet when you count its content as just four paragraphs and two transcluded examples of how a template should be used, it's not even that long.

Discussion at Template talk:TemplateBox#Bold suggests at least one other user, @W.andrea, annoyed with the eye strain.

Well, Template:Not public domain/doc is that long. Way too long. It’s actually a great example for how the description should not look like: examples should use |example= or should just put below the template box; design considerations should be in a <!-- comment --> in the template code or on the talk page, but definitely not in documentation for template users. After removing all these, only the first two sentences of the first paragraph and maybe the second paragraph remain, which is readable. |desc= should be a short summary of what the template does, not detailed usage instructions: that’s what |usage-notes= and other, more specific, parameters are for. For that specific example, fair enough: I've since moved most of the paragraphs to either {{{usage-notes}}} or [{{{example#}}}, {{{example#-value}}}], but still. Even a single paragraph is too long. Can we just pick one or the other, preferably the font-size enlargement?

An entire paragraph being bold and enlarged at the same time still disables the use of bold as a form of emphasis in that part of a doc page, and is still too distracting to me.

Template:Lang/doc is only two paragraphs as of yesterday, and it still strained my and another user's eyes. —LastCelebration (talk) 14:01, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
