Reverting an image replacement for the Geometry Dash logo
I noticed that you removed the application logo from Wikimedia Commons for copyright reasons. I was considering replacing the current text logo in the article's infobox with the app icon, as it is more widely recognized.
Before I proceed, I wanted to get your thoughts on re-uploading the icon (perhaps under a Fair Use rationale if it doesn't meet the threshold of originality). Alternatively, do you think it would be better to combine both logos into a single image, however the Infobox video game template only supports one primary image field so we would need to find a solution. - @Midpour Hi, and sorry for the delay. Any chance you have a link to/the exact name of the deleted image? Or if it was removed from an article, a link to that article? I don't remember deleting that, or why I did so. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 03:33, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, sorry for the late response. Here is the link to the image that I wanted to replace with the current logo on the article, or include both images if possible: File:Geometry Dash application icon.svg
- It says that you removed it for copyright even though both images have the same license I believe.
- Here is the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geometry_Dash Midpour (talk) 16:32, 26 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Midpour I think you can't reupload this on Commons because we don't allow fair use. If it meets the English Wikipedia's w:en:WP:NFCC, then it could be uploaded as nonfree there, but I suspect it doesn't meet criterion 1 (see also w:en:Wikipedia:Non-free content#Meeting the no free equivalent criterion). —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 19:00, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

You may be an eligible candidate for the U4C election
Greetings,
The Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) seeks candidates for the 2026 election. The U4C is the global committee responsible for overseeing enforcement of the Universal Code of Conduct. Elections are held annually, if elected a committee member serves for two years.
This year the U4C requires candidates to hold administrator rights on at least one wiki, which is why you are being contacted as you appear to hold this right. There are other requirements, such as candidates must be at least 18 years old and may not be employed by the Wikimedia Foundation or other related chapters and affiliates. You can find more information in the call for candidates on Meta-wiki. Additionally, the committee's working language is English; some ability to communicate in English is required.
The election opens on 18 May, if you are eligible and interested you have until 10 May to submit your candidacy. There will week between for candidates to answer questions from the community. Voting takes place privately in SecurePoll, successful candidates must receive at least 60% support. More information is available on the 2026 Elections page, including timelines and other candidacy information. If you read over the material and consider yourself qualified, please consider submitting your name to run for the committee. If you think someone else in your community might be interested and qualified, please encourage them to run.
In partnership with the U4C -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 18:30, 28 April 2026 (UTC)"Reason" parameter
Hi. A reason has been provided here, but it says "no reason". This is incorrect. At the same time, there are exceptional cases where the message should not be sent, for example if the user is a vandal or an LTA. Sincerely, Qədir (talk) 03:15, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- Noted, hopefully I can rewrite the code in the next week or two. —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 19:49, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you. Let me also leave a note here: this notification does not show the actual primary reason selected, it only shows the additional reason. That also creates confusion. Check this edits: 1, 2 and 3, 4. Especially look at the second action — there I write "and" as an additional reason, but it is missing. Sincerely, Qədir (talk) 20:35, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
Question
Can I ask, I wanted to post images from this site (https://www.president.gov.ua/en/photos/zustrich-prezidenta-ukrayini-z-prezidentom-gvineyi-bisau-v-k-4997), but I noticed I couldn't because they were somehow deleted. What was wrong? And many people uploaded similar images from this source (president.gov.ua) and they weren't deleted. The Sergei (talk) 07:09, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
- @The Sergei That site now licenses under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, which is not allowed on Commons. So new uploads aren't allowed. (But since the old license is irrevocable, old images from before the license change are still allowed.) —Mdaniels5757 (talk • contribs) 21:24, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
Deletion Notification Bot 2's notifications shouldn't be marked as minor edits
Hi Mdaniels5757, a few days ago your bot left me a talk page message, but because the edit was marked as minor, I didn't get an email notification, so I wasn't aware of the message until long after the file was deleted. Normally it's appropriate for bot edits to be marked as minor, but notifications like these shouldn't be. A new talk page message isn't a minor edit, and marking these notifications as minor partially defeats the purpose of placing them, because for many editors minor edits will be filtered out of their notifications or watchlists. —Mx.
