English: Boston Public Library system logo, designed in 2000 at the behest of the Board of Trustees-
From a March 14, 2000 meeting
"The researchers found also that while there are lots of outstanding programs ongoing throughout the Library system there is a critical need to inform the public about the Library’s resources and services in a coordinated fashion that includes developing a new logo and look for the Boston Public Library."
From a January 30, 2001 meeting
"Ms. D’Arbeloff noted that the multimedia advertising campaign has begun to appear on television spots, newspapers, the Internet and throughout the MBTA system. With a new logo and theme "Books are just the beginning," the campaign includes a new re-designed Boston Public Library Homepage that will be launched within the next several months coupled with a new re-designed BPL banner that will be installed on light poles in front of all the branch libraries and the Central Library."
This logo does not represent a replacement of the formal library seal but a symbol used on cards, signage, and promotional literature.
