This is a gadget intended to streamline the process of closing a CfD discussion.

For the moment, it can only:

• Format the discussion page for closure, adding the header, footer, and your closing comment.

For more information on closing category discussions, see Commons:Categories for discussion (abbreviated as CfD).

To enable

Add the following lines of code to your common.js on Commons (if this is your first script you will need to create this common.js page first.):

importScript('User:BMacZero/AjaxCfdClose.js');

This will add a button to the "Tools" section of the left bar called "Close category discussion" (only if you are viewing a CfD subpage, not a by-month page), which opens the wizard. You might need to clear your browser's cache to see it (Ctrl+F5).

Future work

• Allow user to specify categories to affect
• Automatically extract default categories to affect from the discussion page
• Remove the CfD notice template from the target categories
• Add archive notifications to the target category talk pages
