File:IE expansion.png
This ethnographic map image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.It is recommended to name the SVG file “IE expansion.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter. |
Summary
| Description |
English: Indo-European expansion 4000–1000 BC, according to the Kurgan hypothesis.
Even within the Kurgan hypothesis, there is considerable uncertainty, mainly depending on assumptions about the w:Tocharians, the w:Corded ware culture and the w:Beaker culture. The central purple area is supposed to show early w:Yamna culture (4000–3500 BC); the dark red area could show expansion to about 2500 BC, and the lighter red area expansion to about 1000 BC.
