Hello @~2026-11106-6. I see that English Wikipedia has the new logo as a fair use image: en:File:ProVeg International logo.webp. However, Spanish and Dutch Wikipedia continue using the old logo for copyright reasons. Is the old logo as uploaded and described above a violation of ProVeg International's copyright? (I don't think so, because it does not seem to meet the threshold of originality). Then it should be deleted as you are requesting. (But that means Spanish and Dutch Wikipedia will have no logo at all).

However,

1. Wikimedia Commons is not responsible for how language versions of Wikipedia use images stored on Wikimedia Commons (in other words, you're asking the question (to "remove" the old logo) in the wrong place); and
2. neither Wikimedia Commons nor any language version of Wikipedia is responsible for search engine results of external websites; nor for the fact that "people" keep using the old logo; nor for the fact that this "causes confusion"; nor for the fact that your CEO complains about it to you.

Everything I wrote above also applies to Commons:Deletion requests/File:ProVeg logo.jpg, with the difference that this image is currently not in use anywhere. If ProVeg regards these two images as a copyright violation, we can delete them, but the reasons you cited would not be sufficient for deletion.

The best way to make sure that people will use the current logo is if ProVeg International clarifies what the copyright status the current logo is (otherwise, we have to guess, and that means being careful).

• If it has a copyright licence that is compatible with Wikimedia Commons' policies (for example, CC-BY-SA 4.0; see COM:WKL for details), then we can transfer the image en:File:ProVeg International logo.webp to Commons and use it everywhere (and that will eventually have an effect on seach engine results).
• If it does not, then the organisation could decide to change its licence to make it compatible, and upload it, or request it to be uploaded, under the new licence. That has advantages and disadvantages, however, and is not for us to decide, but for ProVeg International.

Thanks for your praise; I'm using it to document benches where seating material is different from backrest material for use in OpenStreetMap project (see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:backrest:material) so it is indeed useful.

However, I think you've made a mistake and nominated this picture for deleting (and done it twice: with comments "the image is pretty good 👍😎💯" and "because it valuable 💯😎"). Picture should get deleted for copyright violations, social issues and similar reasons, and not because there are good and valuable (which is usually the reason to keep them!) - see Commons:Deletion policy for details.

Granted, the file is unsourced, meaning there is no way to know how the uploader has meant the map.

On the other hand, the nominator has not provided information on why the map is supposedly inaccurate, either. An unproven claim of factual inaccuracy (as long as the reason is not entirely obvious) is not really a deletion reason here, this should have been started with "disputed map", giving the uploader time to correct or provide sources.

The nature of the map makes me tend to go for a weak delete, now: the uploader was a first-timer who has not been online since, and has not challenged the DR or tried to set things right. --Enyavar (talk) 21:53, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

Keep The delete rationale would only apply to works which were not eligible for US copyright due to a lack of agreement (the US had copyright agreements with NZ prior to the URAA via the GATT) or due to not meeting the US requirements for copyright (this photo does). It does not apply to works which were copyrighted in their host country and then entered public domain due to the normal expiry of copyright in the host country, unless those works were registered with a US copyright that was not renewed (there's no evidence of such in the case of this photo). According to both Commons:Copyright rules by territory/New Zealand and w:WP:URAA New Zealand works that were copyrighted in 1996 had their US copyright restored. This source also suggests that New Zealand works are restored by the URAA. Traumnovelle (talk) 19:26, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

Canadian photos/works taken/created 1946 and later that are still under copyright in the USA. They cannot be hosted on the Commons yet, as works have to be PD in both the source country and the USA. Although they are Public Domain in their source country (Canada), they are not PD in the USA as these works were still under copyright in Canada as of 1996 and had their US copyrights restored due to the URAA ({{Not-PD-US-URAA}}). As a result, {{PD-1996}} cannot apply to these files as it fails criteria no. 3 - essentially, 1945 is the cutoff for use of this tag for Canadian works by default.
