English: A syntax tree showing subject movement under Minimalist-style EPP-motivated feature checking.
This tree is an updated version of an older tree. I've balanced branches, converted subscripts to bracketed features, and removed vertical lines suggesting labels were separate from lexical items (since this is supposed to be a BPS tree). The tree was generated in w:LaTeX using the pst-jtree package for w:PSTricks. The code for the tree is as follows. \begin{jtree}[xunit=3em, yunit=4ex]
\def\feat#1{\sc[#1]}%
\def\\{[labelgapb=-.75ex]}%
\! = {C}
<left>[scaleby=1.5 1]{C}\\{\feat{t}}
^<right>[scaleby=1.5 1]{T}
<left>[scaleby=2.125 1] !Subj
^<right>[scaleby=2.125 1]{T}\\{\feat{epp:\,d}}
<left>[scaleby=1.875 1]{T}\\{\feat{epp:\,d,\,v}}\\{\emph{will}}
^<right>[scaleby=1.875 1]{V}
<right>[scaleby=2.5 1] !PP
^<left>[scaleby=2.5 1]{V}
<left>[scaleby=1.25 1]{D\rlap{$_m$}}(<vartri>{<\emph{my sister}>})
^<right>[scaleby=1.25 1]{V}\\{\feat{d}}
