Commons requires that files hosted here have a reliable source and a valid license. If the file itself does not have a verifiable origin, it should not remain simply because it is being used. Otherwise, Wikipedia articles risk relying on potentially misleading material. The description of the photo is clearly problematic and contains serious disputed claims. • Keep It's properly sourced and in the public domain due to its age. IJA (talk) 17:26, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Public domain status due to age is irrelevant if the authenticity and description cannot be confirmed. Without archival evidence, we cannot verify that the image depicts what is claimed. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 17:17, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep All available sources appear to agree with both the date and description. The image is over a century old and should be in public domain. Yung Doohickey (talk) 04:25, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
Consensus among secondary websites does not replace the need for a reliable primary source. Repetition of the same claim across multiple sites is not sufficient for Commons standards. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 17:16, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

Dear Enyavar, thank you so much for putting this up and for all you do for the open knowledge movement.
However, it’s necessary to say that the reasons you highlighted are not really connected to this file. The picture is a collage of a virtual event screenshots of WPWP in Taraba 2025. It’s uploaded here because it’d be used in reporting the success of the events, which was already done.
Deleting it will not only temper with our report but make us lose the integrity of the project we worked hard to carry out.
You can check the file usage here to prove my words.

Can you please remove the delete tag or I should go ahead to do that myself? Yahuzaishat (talk) 12:04, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

https://www.lpnsw.org.au/privacy states that "This website, excluding trademarked logos and images or content noted otherwise, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 Australia Licence. Gbawden (talk) 07:28, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

I think your interpretation takes (trademarked logos and (Images)), while I think they clearly meant except (trademarked logos) and (images or content noted otherwise), because with the first interpretation you could also interpret it to be (trademarked logos and (trademarked) images) which would mean it's still under creative commons Technetium 99m (talk) 07:48, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Keep Appears I interpret it similar to @Technetium 99m; it seems to refer to only excluding images that are noted otherwise – ie implying that these images are under creative commons and are fine to remain. It might be worth contacting the NSW Libertarian Party to clarify? Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 11:19, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
the wording of the website is the exact same as the Australian Greens party licence "excluding trademarked logos and images or content noted otherwise, is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 Australia Licence" and they get their own GREENSAU license tag, the photos should be kept and closed or we delete all the photos from the greens as well Technetium 99m (talk) 11:49, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
Note that I created a LibertariansNSW licence tag for separately uploaded photos as well, which could be added to the above images Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 02:01, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

Public domain status is irrelevant if the authenticity and description of the file cannot be verified.
Without a reliable archival or academic source, we cannot confirm that this image actually depicts what the description claims. Just because it is old does not mean the source is correct. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 16:53, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep As far as I can tell, essentially all available sources agree with the description and date of the photograph. Albeit, I do see some Russian language sources citing this image as part of a Genocide of Rusyns in Galicia, however given the prominence of the sources stating otherwise, and the apparel of the victims is consistent with that of Kosovo Albanians, I find the current description, and especially the date, to be accurate. Yung Doohickey (talk) 04:34, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
Consensus among secondary websites or visual interpretation of clothing is not a reliable primary source. The fact that some sources even attribute this image to a completely different event (Rusyns in Galicia) highlights the uncertainty. This disputed context makes the description problematic and unreliable.
So, for the sake of objectivity, it is important to determine the accuracy of the description of the photo and what it actually depicts. If we were to only search through secondary sources, Wikipedia and its essence of existence would truly be called into question and this site would be in disarray. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 17:00, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
Critically, one of the sources listed, contains the original, uncropped photo. The picture is a scan of a source image, which is labeled "Barbarizma Te Ushtrise Serbe" which translates to "Barbarism of the Serbian Army." Yung Doohickey (talk) 22:13, 30 January 2026 (UTC)

Public domain status due to age is irrelevant if the file's authenticity and description cannot be verified. Without a reliable archival or academic source, we cannot confirm that this image truly depicts what the description claims. Simply being old does not make it properly sourced. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 17:03, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep per IJA, effectively all sources when reverse image searching, plus the ones currently listed, appear to agree with the current date and description. Yung Doohickey (talk) 04:37, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
Reverse image search results and repetition across secondary websites are not reliable primary sources. The description of this file contains very serious accusations ("thousands captured and most killed") which require strong archival evidence. Without such evidence, the description remains disputed and problematic.
The file lacks a reliable primary source and a clear license. Given the gravity of the claims in the description, Commons precautionary principle applies: disputed claims without verifiable origin should not be hosted. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 17:11, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
As I stated in deletion request of the same prison camp from a different angle, there are contemporary sources that describe mass imprisonment and evidence of customary summary executions in these prisons. Additionally, here is an ebay listing for a postcard from 1948 showing the exact same scene from yet another angle and a description imprinted on the photograph that agrees with the current description (though all the prisoners are referred to Turks since they come from the occupied formerly Ottoman territories) . Yung Doohickey (talk) 07:49, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the additional input. However, this does not resolve the fundamental concerns. Without archival documentation that clearly connects the image itself to those events, the description remains speculative. Commercial sources, such as ebay listings, cannot be considered reliable primary sources. Regardless of what is written on them, they do not provide verifiable archival documentation. What matters here is a clear, undisputed primary source that directly confirms what the photograph depicts and supports the accuracy of its description. Without such evidence, the file remains disputed and should not be hosted under Commons' precautionary principle.
I think it is important, above all, that the photo and its description are supported by a primary source, just as Wikipedia's basic principles require. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 22:53, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep The sources, which includes a post from an official social media account from the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, as well as virtually all online sources when reverse image searching agree with the date and description of the photograph as it appears on commons. Yung Doohickey (talk) 04:42, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
These are not reliable primary sources. Social media statements, even from officials, and internet consensus do not meet Commons standards for verifiability. For a file that contains very serious accusations, Commons precautionary principle applies, disputed claims without verifiable origin should not be hosted.
In conclusion, while I appreciate the input, the lack of a reliable primary source and the risk of misuse

Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 17:14, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep Two sources are listed, an Albanian language and a Serbian language source both appear to agree with the date and description. There is no evidence provided to suggest the description is disputed, and it should be in the public domain given its age. Yung Doohickey (talk) 04:45, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
The sources listed are modern websites in Albanian and Serbian, not archival or academic references. They repeat the same narrative but do not provide verifiable origin or documentation of the photograph. The description itself contains very serious claims (naming political leaders, torture, mass imprisonment) which require strong archival evidence. Without such evidence, the description remains disputed and problematic. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 17:14, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
There simply isn't a very strong case for you to reject this narrative if two sides, which are typically at odds with each other, agree on the same narrative. Also, it is a historical fact that political leaders, like Hasan Prishtina, were imprisoned in Belgrade at this time. Additionally, imprisonment in Nis and Belgrade are referenced by contemporary documents, like Albania's Golgotha by Leo Freundlich. Which describes prisoners in Nis and Belgrade and even included accounts of summary executions of prisoners in Nis. Yung Doohickey (talk) 07:20, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Аcknowledging the historical context does not verify that this specific photograph depicts those events or individuals. The current description goes far beyond what can be confirmed: it names specific leaders and alleges torture. Such serious claims require archival documentation directly linking the image to those circumstances. Secondary narratives or general historical facts cannot substitute for a verifiable origin of the photograph. Lazar Maksimovic (talk) 23:07, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
I just found a primary source published from 1914 here (right after page 164) . This should completely settle this dispute as well as the Commons:Deletion requests/File:Albanians in Belgrade prison.jpg (since it is an identical scene from a different angle).  Keep The nomination does not fit COM:OOS as this file can be used for anything educational regarding the State of Palestine. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 17:16, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
There are other waving flags in that category. heylenny (talk/edits) 17:44, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
I see now that this file is from a pack of waving flags derived from File:US Flag - iconic waving.svg heylenny (talk/edits) 23:38, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Keep, I think a file being unused while other similar files exist isn't a sufficient reason for deletion, unless the file is a duplicate. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 19:45, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

  •  Delete Usable, but probable copyright violation. I realize small size is not per se a deletion reason, but this is so extremely small, I think it is. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:38, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

This image is from a journal article, but I don't see any release from the authors to make it CC 4.0 Angryapathy (talk) 20:27, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

If you click the information button (i) on the journal article page, it'll show the copyright of the article, for this particular one, it says "© 2026 Waked et al. This is an open-access article distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license." (On mobile, the button is usually at the top of the screen, while on computer, it's usually on the sidebar) MicrobiologyDragon (talk) 22:02, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

File:Flag of Japanese Kosovo.svg

Out of scope: afaik, Japan does not claim Kosovo Enyavar (talk) 20:56, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

We know the Japan does not claim Kosovo, Enyavar! I have seen in Google that modificating the Kosovo flag is illegal. Thank you for nominating the deletion for the Japanese Kosovo! Ludo Games-T (talk) 22:34, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for not objecting to the DR. I was not aware that it might be illegal; but I was objecting to the combination of flag and map, similarly to this deletion two years ago. There I wrote among others: "unlike crossing flag pins which symbolize friendly relations, flag maps like this one are symbolizing ownership of the flag-country over the displayed territories - these are symbols of unfriendly takeovers." Creators might not always be fully aware of the symbolism, but the recent scandal of a Greenland map dressed in US colors shows how such manipulations are mostly used to fan the flames. (Ironically, such a "Greenland is US" flag map would now be seen as educational about that real conflict...)
In contrast, your idea seems more benign, but I see no realistic educational purpose (see COM:Scope), und the file is unused. That led to this DR. --Enyavar (talk) 23:10, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
