I assume the photo was taken at a publicity event. So, being photographed can't have been a surprise for her. Or does she have an objection specifically against this shot? Otherwise, in case of deletion we may have to expect deletion-requests also against the other images from likely the same event. --Túrelio (talk) 07:27, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
WikiPortraits organizer here -- yes, this was taken at a press line, so no real surprises here (Getty has a similar photo from the same session). I spoke with the subject via email who said she doesn't like this specific photo, but liked the ones I uploaded from the film's premiere (e.g. this one). Given the uploader Sarahkjoyce requested deletion 10 days after upload (just a few days over our 7-day G7 threshold) and that we have alternative photos of Aristidou from Sundance, I think a courtesy  Delete is fair here. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 01:56, 22 April 2026 (UTC)

Since there is no Freedom of Panorama under the Philippine copyright law, it is not allowed for the photographers, content creators, and netizens to reproduce buildings and monuments without permissions from the designers of those works. The most used image may be locally hosted on English Wikipedia, which is not obliged to follow restrictive Philippine laws and is only obliged to follow more lenient US laws under w:en:lex loci protectonis principle in the US. US law allows unrestricted exploitations of buildings without permissions from the architects (w:en:Freedom of panorama#United States).

I think we should not close this discussion until the flickr uploader has a chance to respond.
This is an extremely common problem. Flickr really let down their customers, because it seems obvious, even to people who are extremely well informed on intellectual property issues, that if they want to put their own images into the public domain, they should use the public domain tag flickr provided them.
I think if you look at this image, and applied a little common sense, it seems EXTREMELY LIKELY the flickr uploader is one of the vast number of good faith flickr users who wanted to put their ownimages into the public domain.
I left the following note for the flickr uploader, on this image's flickr page... Geo Swan (talk) 19:40, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
I left the following note for the flickr uploader, on this image's flickr page...
Clarification please... I think (1) you took this image yourself; (2) you wanted to release it into the public domain; (3) so you put flickr's public domain mark on it If that is the case, I apologize to you, on flickr's behalf. Flickr confused you. It has confused a lot of people who are very experienced on public domain and intellectual property rights. When an image belongs to you, as it would if you snapped it with your own camera, and you want to put it in the public domain, they want you to use the cc0 license. I know, completely counter-intuitive. They want you to reserve the public domain mark for images you come across, that you believe are in the public domain -- you know, public domain due to age, or public domain because it was taken by an employee of a US Federal agency, in performance of their duties. This fine image was uploaded to the Wikimedia commons. Thank you very much for it. Unfortunately, someone has challenged your right to put it in the public domain, assuming someone else took it, and you claimed it was public domain, without any proof. I apologize for asking you to say something I am sure you thought was obvious... Could you confirm you took the image yourself? I'll check back, every so often, and inform my colleagues that you left that confirmation. Thank you for the fine image, and for your confirmation! Cheers!

According to Kalmyk sources, the painter is not Valery Mukhin but Valery Montyshev (Валерий Монтышев) (which kind of also makes more sense that an Honored Artist of the Republic of Kalmykia would create a painting about a Kalmyk khan rather than a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine). This is a possible copyright violation - according to this website (http://emdexport.railfan.net/africa/algeria/algeria3.html) the original image was taken by Jim Claflin on June 5, 1978 in Algiers. There are no credits or tangible sources attatched to this image page on Commons. Zach1055 (talk) 15:21, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

I found it on Algerian pages with credit to SNCFA workers, so I added the public domain template, which applies. However, if you are sure that the exact photograph is by Jim Claflin, then it should be deleted. RiadS99 (talk) 15:24, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

These drawings are not {{PD-USGov}}, as they were drawn by Samuel Little, who was not an employee of the U.S. federal government. He never dedicated these drawings to the public domain.

This file was initially tagged by SamuelInzunza as Copyvio (copyvio) and the most recent rationale was: Taken from this site (according to Memoria Chilena: "Intellectual property: Protected work") Very simple. Yann (talk) 22:54, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello, I was the user that tagged the image. At first I thought the file was allowed since it's a photo of a very simple magazine cover. However, I realized that the photo was not originally taken by the uploader (who claims that the file is his own work), and instead it was taken from a website of the Chilean government that generally states the intellectual property of the historical images that it hosts, either as "Patrimonio cultural común" (Common cultural heritage, equivalent to public domain) or "Obra protegida" (Protected work, i.e. still in copyright). Regardless, I would understand if other users consider that, despite being a case of COM:NETCOPYVIO, it could be allowed under a {{PD-text}} or a similar license. I leave it to the community to determine what to do with this file. SamuelInzunza (talk) 23:25, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
Yes, the whole cover is under a copyright. However cutting only this part makes it very simple. This is most probably in the public domain in USA with {{PD-text}}. Not sure what is the threshold of originality in Chile. Yann (talk) 09:31, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

This logo image consists only of simple geometric shapes or text. It does not meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection, and is therefore in the public domain. --Sebastian Wallroth (talk) 09:26, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
