There is no acceptable Freedom of Panorama in Indonesia. The church was inaugurated and consecrated in 2017.

While one law firm has explicitly supported the inclusion of FoP clause under the Indonesian copyright law, they are lobbying for a noncommercial version instead so that buildings and monuments will not be exploited in branding and commercial purposes. Do not expect commercial-friendly and pro-Wikipedia FoP to be embraced in Indonesia anytime soon.

In my opinion, deletion requires a clear and demonstrable copyright violation, not general assumptions about restrictive laws. In this case, there is no specific provision in Indonesian copyright law that explicitly prohibits photographing and publishing images of publicly visible buildings. @Medelam no, COM:PCP requires the Wikimedia Commons community to minimize the chances of takedown requests from the architects and sculptors (or their heirs or representatives). You also don't seem to understand the current jurisprudence in Indonesia. Indonesian works visible in public spaces cannot be freely used even for commercial purposes. See Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Selamat Datang Monument, in the case of Selamat Datang monument. See also this Indonesian article and this English article concerning KFC Indonesia's use of the monument in their buckets. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 10:09, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
The Selamat Datang's case concerns commercial exploitation, which is a different situation from hosting an image on Commons for educational purposes. The fact that a company was challenged for using a monument in branding does not automatically imply that all non-commercial or encyclopedic uses carry the same level of risk. In this case of church images, no evidence has been provided that the architect or rights holder has objected to non-commercial, documentary uses such as this. Regards. @Medelam kindly read COM:Licensing#Acceptable licenses. Images should not only serve for educational purposes. Images must also be free for commercial and lucrative online media purposes like vlogging, website and app development, postcards, advertising, augmented and virtual reality, and tourism materials (like calendars and commercial travel websites). Wikimedia Commons cannot accept images of monuments and buildings from countries that do not allow commercial uses of images of their landmarks and monuments. Dozens of Indonesian landmarks and structures have been deleted for the past ten years, see Category:Indonesian FOP cases/deleted. I'm sorry if I uploaded something like this Ziv. Flickr does not have much in terms of policies like us with what is allowed or posted over there, which could be the root cause of why innocent users like to upload them here without much knowledge. I reckon... Flickr needs to handle policies the way we do it here. Flickr allows copyrighted video games and users licence them on cc-by-sa so a user might innocently upload an image from there and then get accused of copyvio. I'm aware of our strict policies because next step is someone could go to imginn and this account for example upload the pictures here and lie with permissions and its a whole different story. It all comes down to how complex each logo is, and they should be evaluated on a case by case basis. We may want to separate them into separate deletion requests if desired. Here is my take on these images (remember, TOO is low in Hong Kong):
 Keep The following image is likely allowable and can probably be kept:
  • File:HK08.svg - Well-known font with the only element that requires any effort being the red colouring of the text.
 Delete The following images are likely not allowable and should be deleted:
  • File:CMK Electrical Store logo.jpg - Only composed of characters written in standard fonts, but the bolded text, line dividing the top and bottom and different font sizes likely constitutes enough effort that it is copyrightable under "sweat of the brow."
  • File:Blue Logotype En.jpg - Same as above, only composed of standard fonts, but has elements requiring some effort like the colouring of the text, different font sizes and selective bolding of the text, which likely makes it copyrightable under "sweat of the brow."
  • File:1069BF.png - Demonstrated originality since it is a non-standard font.
  • File:Federation for the Stability of Hong Kong.svg - While it consists only of uncopyrightable/public-domain parts, it required a fair amount of effort to compile and is therefore copyrightable.
  • File:HKIB-logo 64cmx12cm RGB 300dpi-01.png - Same as the previous one, it required effort to create and is therefore copyrightable. --ShyAlpaca482 (talk) 19:20, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

I had put a fair use rationale on w:File:Hugh Watson Field, 1938.jpg because the authorship (and thus the copyright status) is unclear. The Flickr account I got the image from back in 2013 has since taken the photo private. They were not the original photographer. The earliest copy I can find of this photo online is from this 2012 blog post that references a page on a postcard collector's website. (Google says the page was last updated in 2010.) @ShuQizhe, you didn't do anything wrong! To find an assumed pre-publication of an upload is important. However, to judge whether it might be evidence that the upload violates copyright, the temporal precedence is revelant, but also whether the external hit shows at least an equally large section of the image as our upload. Sometimes the external hit may not be the true source, but suggest that both come from a third source. --Túrelio (talk) 20:07, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

Possible COM:COPYVIO. Unlikely to be own works. Some files have a watermark, Rockin' 1000, another has a speaker icon, indicating that the image is a screenshot of a video, with no source. Most files lack plausible EXIF ​​data; it is assumed that the uploader found the images somewhere on the internet, see also User talk:Chaoticclemmy, which already contains some speedy deleted images. Images should be deleted per COM:PCP.
