File:CCD Raw Image.jpg
| Description | Raw astronomical CCD image. Subtraction of the dark frame and flat field correction results in the final, calibrated image. The dark spot in the raw image is caused by a dust speck on the CCD window. Numerous "hot pixels" are scattered all over the image, resulting in a very noisy image. Faint stars are lost in the noise. |
