Note that some of these images are made in Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word diagrams are easy to make, and are also easy to convert to SVG.


How to convert Microsoft Word diagrams into SVG


If you have Inkscape software

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. Click Insert ▶︎ Chart
  3. Choose the correct chart type
  4. Copy the data from the original picture to the diagram
  5. If you are done, select File ▶︎ Save As, and choose the "Save As type" as PDF.
  6. Open Inkscape.
  7. Click File ▶︎ Open.
  8. Open the PDF File.
  9. If you are prompted by the PDF Import settings, click Internal Import, and set the "Gradient Meshes" to rough.
    ALTERNATE OPTION : Click Poppler / Cairo Import if the diagram consisted of many texts.
  10. Crop the image by clicking File ▶︎ Document Properties ▶︎ Resize Page to Content ▶︎ Resize Page to Drawing or Selection.
  11. Click File ▶︎ Save As, and save the image in SVG.
  12. Upload the image to Wikimedia Commons.

If you don't have Inkscape software


NOTE : These conversion steps can cause the image to break down.

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. Click Insert ▶︎ Chart
  3. Choose the correct chart type
  4. Copy the data from the original picture to the diagram
  5. If you are done, select File ▶︎ Save As, and choose the "Save As type" as PDF.
  6. Search for "PDF to SVG" websites, that can convert .pdf to .svg. I recommend using this. NOTE : If you are using this, click the choose option as shape text, the diagram consisted of many texts.
  7. If you are done, download the conversion file.
  8. Upload the image to Wikimedia Commons.
