"Para el mes de octubre de 1952, la alcaldía dicto la providencia correspondiente, por medio de la cual se creaba la bandera que debía de ondear en todas las casas de la ciudad durante las festividades aniversarias, y al efecto se colocó en la terraza de la casa cural una gran asta con la bandera, azul, roja, verde. EL AZUL, el color del cielo hacia donde se eleva nuestras miradas y nuestro espíritu, EL ROJO, símbolo del muy grande amor de los Apianos por su patria chica, y el VERDE, la feracidad de nuestro suelo."
