3 votes for election committee

I voted for 3 people, but all of the candidates are good. Thanks for everyone who volunteered. Bluerasberry (talk) 21:13, 2 December 2025 (UTC)

Speaking of 3 votes, I noticed the Board Elections rules said that members can only vote once. I've updated it in this edit to say "Each member can vote for a set number of candidates, depending on the election" (please update/correct if there's a better way to word that). (pining @Ailura and Bluerasberry who have worked on the page before) ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 21:52, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
Thank you, that's why we need a committee. I guess this needs to be discussed before the real election. Ailura (talk) 08:28, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
Actually, I ended up undoing my change; I realize the section I edited is about the Board election at-large, and not the election committee selection. Was just a bit confused since I went straight to the rules linked at the top to see the rules on voting. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 12:10, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

I presume one must be logged into an account to cast its vote...

... but this person was not: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:Commons_Photographers_User_Group/Board_Elections_2025&diff=prev&oldid=1128567063 - Jmabel ! talk 06:13, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for noting and thank you Achim for repairing. Ailura (talk) 08:11, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

Meeting

When will the electoral committee meeting take place? I feel a bit lost, sorry :) Pedro J Pacheco (talk) 14:32, 28 December 2025 (UTC)

Discarded (duplicate) votes

I would like to understand what “duplicate votes” means. Does it refer to votes cast more than once by the same username? I assume this might happen if someone votes again to correct or change a vote they previously made. Is that correct, or am I misunderstanding it? (Pinging @Dev Jadiya, J ansari, and ZI Jony: as they were the ECM.) Herdaisymione (talk) 17:58, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

Yes. The users who voted twice then their earlier vote was not counted as it was updated. Dev Jadiya (talk) 18:05, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Herdaisymione, thank you for the question! You are essentially correct.
In the context of the SecurePoll system, "duplicate votes" typically refers to instances where a single user has submitted more than one ballot. This often happens if a voter changes their mind or realizes they made a mistake and submits a new ballot before the deadline.
The system is designed to only count the most recent valid ballot cast by that user. The "10 discarded ballots" mentioned in the resolution are those earlier, superseded entries that were automatically set aside by the software to ensure that each eligible voter has only one final vote in the tally. It does not imply any wrongdoing by the voters; rather, it reflects the system's process of ensuring that only the voter's final intent is recorded.
I hope this clarifies the process! Please let the Election Committee know if you have any further questions. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 18:08, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
yes its all clear now, I appreciate how you explained it thoroughly,Thanks for that! Herdaisymione (talk) 07:59, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Yes!Thank you that's what I wanted to know! Herdaisymione (talk) 07:57, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
