Question about Flickr2Commons

@Edelseider. Here you commented about how Flickr2Commons works or perhaps does not work. https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:A1Cafel&oldid=689084173#Please_don't_upload_duplicates_again. @Ooligan: Yes, Upload Wizard is better because it interacts more with the content on Commons, but it has limitations of its own. The biggest limitation is that you can only upload 500 pictures in one go. For example, if you want to transfer an album which contains 1,200 pictures, you can do that in one single swoop with Flickr2Commons, but Upload Wizard forces you to select each pictures manually from the 501st to the last. @Trade: several possibilities. First, look into the target category (i.e. if these are photos of the Eiffel Tower at sundown, look into the category Eiffel Tower at sundown if they are there). Or, (and this is even better because files are not always put into the proper category), do a file search using the name of the photographer (i.e. if it's a photo of the Eiffel Tower by Sumbuddy, search for "Eiffel Tower" + Sumbuddy). Or, do a file search using the date when the photo was taken (i.e. "13 August 2016" + Sumbuddy) Even if the name of the file has been modified, the name of the photographer and the date when it was taken are still the same. Wiki Loves Monuments 2023 - Deutschland

Hallo Edelseider,

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2023 findet zum dreizehnten Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Vergangenes Jahr hat Radomianin mit einer Gesamtansicht von Kloster Paulinzella gewonnen. Welcher Fotograf oder welche Fotografin tritt dieses Jahr die Nachfolge an?

Nach WLM 2022 sind wieder zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden – zum Beispiel die Denkmallisten in Waltershausen in Thüringen oder in Fulda.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Für das einfache Auffinden haben wir eine Upload-Karte erstellt, in der viele aber leider noch nicht alle Kulturdenkmale angezeigt werden können. Das Laden der Objekte dauert dort etwas.

Wir haben dieses Jahr „drei Sonderpreise für Bilder von Friedhöfen“ ausgelobt. Zugelassen sind für den Sonderpreis auch Fotos von Friedhöfen, die nicht denkmalgeschützt sind.

Damit es ab 1. September mit dem Upload schnell geht:

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Anfang September 2023 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2023 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool ist hier bald freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und das Passwort.

Wiki Loves Monuments 2024 - Deutschland

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2024 findet zum 14. Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Vergangenes Jahr hat Rolf Kranz mit einer Winteransicht der Marksburg und der Schornsteine der Blei- und Silberhütte Braubach gewonnen. Welcher Fotograf oder welche Fotografin tritt dieses Jahr die Nachfolge an?

Nach WLM 2023 sind wieder zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden – zum Beispiel in Schenkenzell in Baden-Württemberg oder in Oyten in Niedersachsen.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Für das einfache Auffinden haben wir eine Upload-Karte erstellt, in der viele aber leider noch nicht alle Kulturdenkmale angezeigt werden können. Das Laden der Objekte dauert dort etwas.

Wir haben dieses Jahr drei Sonderpreise für Bilder zum Thema „Kinderwelten“ ausgelobt. Zugelassen sind für den Sonderpreis auch Fotos von Bauwerken, die nicht denkmalgeschützt sind. Dieser Sonderpreis wird gemeinsam mit dem Klexikon vergeben.

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Anfang September 2024 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die Anfang November tagen wird, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2024 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool ist hier bald freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und das Passwort.

This year will be the eighteenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2023) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

Inschriften im Musée archéologique de Strasbourg

Hallo Edelseider,

du hast mir vor 2 Jahren mal neue Inschriften im Musée archéologique de Strasbourg vorgestellt. Möglicherweise hast du es schon gesehen, dass ich derzeit die Inschriften zu den röm. Legionen durchgehe und ergänze. Ich bin jetzt mit den Inschriften der Legio VIII Augusta soweit durch; dabei habe ich für 2 Objekte aus dem Musée archéologique de Strasbourg Kategorien angelegt, siehe Category:Votive stone dedicated by Gaius Celsinius Matutinus und Category:Votive stone dedicated by Oppius Severus.

Falls du mal Zeit hast, kannst du dir die beiden Kategorien ansehen und prüfen, ob meine Änderungen aus deiner Sicht passen. Mein Hauptziel bei der Anlage dieser beiden Kategorien (sowie weiterer bei anderen Legionen) war dabei, die Bilder unter einer Kategorie zs.zufassen und diese Kategorie dann mit einer Inschrift aus der EDCS zu verbinden, so dass alle Informationen aus der Inschrift nur bei der Kategorie der Inschrift stehen. Ich hoffe, dass das Sinn ergibt.

Lieber @Agentjoerg: Ich habe gesehen, dass du zurzeit die Inschriften durchsiehst und ergänzt, und möchte dir dafür an dieser Stelle herzlich danken! Du machst eine großartige Arbeit. Beim Mithräum von Koenighoffen habe ich festgestellt, dass es zwei unterschiedliche, aber ziemlich ähnliche Widmungstafeln gibt und du die eine mit der anderen verwechselt hast, ich habe die Dateien aber in die richtigen Kategorien verschoben. Vielleicht solltest du es aber trotzdem noch einmal überprüfen? Es handelt sich um die Unterkategorien von Category:Gaius Celsinius Matutinus. Kommentare im Sourcecode bei den einzelnen Kategorien eines Objekts

Hallo Edelseider,

ich habe mir aus Langeweile ein riesiges Projekt aufgehalst, das mich nicht mehr loslässt, nämlich die Inschriften zu röm. Militärangehörigen und -einheiten zu strukturieren, möglichst auch zu vereinheitlichen und das Ganze irgendwo auch zu dokumentieren. Als ehemaliger Programmierer sind für mich Kommentarzeilen im Sourcecode das Mittel der Wahl, um diese Strukturierung zu dokumentieren.

Um eine unabhängige Meinung zu hören, würde mich interessieren, was du von dem Ganzen hältst. Sieh dir dazu bitte, wenn du mal Zeit hast, mit Bearbeiten den Sourcecode der folgenden beiden Kats an und sag mir, was deine Meinung dazu ist:

• Category:Military diploma issued to Gaius Tarcutius Hospitalis
• Category:CIL XVI 000127

Diese beiden Kats gehören thematisch zs. und ich hoffe, dass dies mit den Kommentarzeilen ersichtlich wird.

Lieber @Agentjoerg: Ich bin für diese Aufgabe der Falsche, Sourcecodes und überhaupt Programmieren sind für mich terra incognita. Du solltest eher einen Benutzer wie Nono314 (talk · contribs) fragen, der ist technisch viel versierter als ich, beschäftigt sich aber ebenfalls mit Museen und deren Sammlungen. das ist überhaupt kein Problem. Ich habe auf jeden Fall folgenden Kommentar im Sourcecode bei Category:CIL XVI 000127 hinterlassen, um eine Diskussion vor Änderungen zu beginnen. Sobald jemand mit dem Bearbeiten des Sourcecodes, z. B. Hinzufügen einer Kat, beginnt, sieht er diese Zeilen:

Page Paintings by Henri Matisse avec tableau de wikidata

J'ai vu la page que tu as créée avec le tableau des oeuvres issues de wikidata. C'est très bien mais le titre de la page (paintings) n'est pas en phase avec le contenu du tableau (qui contient aussi des sculptures, eaux fortes, etc). Peux tu soit changer le nom de la page (works by Henri Matisse) soit mieux filtrer le tableau stp pour ne garder que les peintures.

Je ferais bien moi même mais ça dépasse mes compétences....

Wiki Loves Monuments 2025 Deutschland

Hallo Edelseider,

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2025 findet zum 15. Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments (WLM) statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Vergangenes Jahr hat GPSLeo mit dem Verladeturm Oderhafen Groß Neuendorf während eines Hochwassers gewonnen. Welcher Fotograf oder welche Fotografin tritt dieses Jahr die Nachfolge an?

Nach WLM 2024 sind wieder zahlreiche neue Denkmallisten entstanden – zum Beispiel in Greiz in Thüringen oder in Königslutter am Elm in Niedersachsen. Nachdem es in Thüringen über lange Zeit nicht überall Kulturdenkmallisten gab, ist dieses Bundesland jetzt fast vollständig abgedeckt und die Listen freuen sich über Fotos. Hier findest du einen Einstieg in die Thüringer Listen.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Für das einfache Auffinden haben wir eine Upload-Karte erstellt, in der viele aber leider noch nicht alle Kulturdenkmale angezeigt werden können. Das Laden der Objekte dauert dort etwas.

Wir haben dieses Jahr drei Sonderpreise für Bilder zum Thema „Bauernhöfe und Bauernhäuser“ ausgelobt.

Damit es ab 1. September mit dem Upload schnell geht:

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Anfang September 2025 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die Anfang November tagen wird, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2025 in Deutschland. Das Vorjurytool ist hier bald freigeschaltet. Du benötigst dafür nur deinen Benutzernamen und das Passwort.

Cependant, plusieurs photographies dont File:L'Avenue de Champagne - 53302017625.jpg ne sont pas inédites puisqu'elles ont été importées depuis Flickr contrairement à ce qui est requis par le concours (voir Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2025 in France et le règlement complet). Aussi suis-je obligé de les retirer du concours. N'hésitez pas à ajouter d'autres fichiers qui sont vos propres œuvres.

Je ne suis pas familier avec les détails de WLM-de mais il me semble que c'est la même règle (et idem pour la plupart des pays). En tout cas c'est ce que je comprends de de:Wikipedia:Wiki Loves Monuments 2025/Deutschland en particulier « Die Fotos müssen von den Teilnehmenden selbst erstellt worden sein. » Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 14:49, 20 September 2025 (UTC)

(sorry, don't speak French). You need to distinguish between suitable to Wikimedia Commons, and eligible for WLM. If these pictures are on Flickr on the correct license, which they are, they are more then welcome on commons, and are an enrichment of the collection. So first of all, thank you for uploading.

WLM has stricter rules, amongst them only own pictures, which is only for the competition. However, with the volume of pictures, it is not doable to check all pictures. Likely, if you picture would have come up in the judging as a better one, then it would be checked if it fails the criteria and dismissed for further judging at that point. Now somebody happen to notice this one, so consider this just a courtesy ping that while welcome on commons, they wouldn't be eligible for a price. Hope this clarifies a bit more. Hoi Edelseider, sorry als ik je laat schrikken. Ik heb vroeger meegeholpen in de organisatie van WLM in Nederland, waar het ooit begonnen is. In een kanaal met organisatoren van WLM kwam deze foto voorbij van iemand die erop gestuit was bij onderhoudswerk aan de tools die draaien voor WLM met de vraag of dit dit soort foto's wel of niet mogen. Omdat ik het belangrijk vond om je zeker wel te bedanken voor je uploads heb ik besloten nog een aanvulling te geven, zodoende. Akoopal (talk) 18:40, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
