If your request is to restore a deleted image for which permission was sent, please wait until the sent permission is processed, at least 7 days.
If the permission was sent and nothing happened, most likely the permission sender got a reply and didn't react further. Please encourage them to do.

Krdbot not using nowiki in "content was"

Hi again. I addressed this issue of not using nowiki in "content was" at User talk:Krd/archive/2025#Template:VRTrestore, but it has recurred with Special:Diff/1089702356 and similar edits, populating Category:Malformed deletion requests (and in this case Category:Collections of Musée Cernuschi). DR post-close cleanup

Hi Krd. Now that Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Texas Historical Commission plaques in Fort Bend County, Texas, I'm wondering whether something about copyright status of each of the photographed plaques should be added to their respective file descriptions so that the files don't get mistakenly tagged/nominated for deletion again. For example, a {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} license seems fine for the photo of File:FBISD Historical Marker.jpg, but technically the uploader wouldn't be considered the copyright holder of the plaque, right? Should there be a different license provided for the plaque based on the VRT ticket or is the same license OK? -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:30, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

It should have been done with a custom license template from the beginning because it's causing pain with every new upload. Please see Category:Custom license tags with ticket permission for examples and please prepare a draft. Krd 05:53, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for taking a look. FWIW, I didn't upload any of the files discussed in that DR; I only asked about one of them at VPC; I also wasn't involved in the email to VRT. DR categorization

Hi Krd, sorry for bothering you. I'm wiriting to you because I've seen that you usually don't categorize pending FOP cases. This doesn't allow users with specific knowledge about their countries' laws (which are very often relevant in these cases) to weigh in and provide more informations about the case, resulting in unnecessary deletions. And even when the images can't be saved, a local, who knows the local language, can very often find more informations about the author and the work, thus identifying a specific undeletion date that otherwise would remain undetermined forever. I was talking about those you created, I've added the category in 3 of them today (1, 2, 3). In one case the image could be saved and in another case I could identify a specific undeletion date.

I'm not keeping tracks of every FOP case on Commons obviously, but thank to my researches 299 FOP-images in DRs could be saved since 2023 (and for a lot of other images I could identify a specific undeletion date in the next decades). Friniate (talk) 11:35, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

Gradient descent

Hi, it is the first time that I made a discussion in wikipedia so I hope it is the right place. I propose to add a small video on the gradient descent to see what is going on. The 20th of June, it seems that you delete the video called which was on this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gradient_descent May I have a small explanation. I think that the video in 3D was very useful to understand the one next to it that was in 2D. This simulation was done by one of my student. Need understanding

Hello Krd, I noticed that you deleted one of my photos regarding aircraft HK-1341. I left a note about if confirmation was needed, I could show evidence that permission from Paul Hayes was given over email. If this wasn't appropriate to do in this situation, I understand, and if so, what could I do to have the photo re-uploaded/undeleted? I have messages (Emails) from Paul Hayes, the original creator of the image, that gave me permission to upload said photo. Restore the deleted files

My images of Finnish Defence Forces items from my personal collection, as well as photographs of Finnish military emblems, were deleted. I believe this was done in error. Uploading the files, I followed the guidance provided on Wikimedia Commons and clearly stated that the depicted items are the property of the Finnish Defence Forces. Under Finnish copyright law, official military insignia, emblems, and similar official symbols are generally not protected by copyright, and photographs of these physical items are therefore eligible for upload to Wikimedia Common.

I also included the relevant license template on the file pages and cited the specific section of Finnish law stating that these official military emblems and insignia are not protected by copyright.

This file is in the public domain in Finland because it is a part of a decision or a statement issued by a public authority or other public body in Finland and is not an independent work. Section 9 of the Finnish Copyright Act specifies that no copyright exists in such material. (Link to the Act)

There are examples of pictures and their digitalized versions that were uploaded by other people long before me. I did everything the same way they did by stating that the files are the property of, or were made by, the Finnish Defence Forces, and I included the template I mentioned.

The difference in font doesn't add anything copyrightable. If File:Logo CSU Suceava.png is free then so must File:Logo CSU Suceava handbal.png be.
