Possible color cast / white balance check

Article(s): Various articles using this image.

Request
The image looks slightly warm/yellowish to me. I'm not sure whether this is a real color cast or simply the lighting conditions when the photo was taken. Could someone take a look? If a white-balance correction is justified, a fix would be appreciated. --Flaspec (talk) 18:11, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s)
I've given it a go; I also corrected the slight tilt in the photo and clone-filled the edges as necessary. Let me know what you think, can always revert if it's not liked - MPF (talk) 00:52, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for the work so far, I like the white-balance correction and the slight leveling of the image. The result looks more natural to me.
One small question: do you think it's possible to reduce some of the visible image noise, especially in the sky, without noticeably degrading fine details or introducing an over-processed look?
If a clean noise reduction is feasible, I'd be happy to see that version as well. If not, I'm perfectly satisfied with the current edit and the request can be marked as resolved.
Thanks again! -Flaspec (talk) 08:00, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
@Flaspec Thanks! Unfortunately I don't know how to do the image noise (I can see what you mean, and noticed it yesterday), but anyone else is welcome to give it a go - MPF (talk) 17:22, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

The new image is 4 px shorter on the horizontal axis. Please try again. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 15:45, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
As the original image's width wasn't a multiple of 16 (or 8 in the case of 4:4:4 or 4:1:1 chroma subsampling), losslessly mirroring it cropped it to the next smaller block boundary. JPEG being a lossy format, mirroring and reencoding the image would reduce image quality. A difference of 4 pixels over 1556 is insignificant. cmɢʟeeτaʟκ 20:38, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

Who can stitch?

Article(s): I don't know yet

Request
Hi. Does someone know, how to stitch? I tried several times with Hugin - Panorama editor. The result was always an optically distorted picture, although I chose 'straight'. The stitching itself is rather easy here, plenty of anchor points possible. But the sharpness of each is very uneven. Thanks in advance. (File:Venice, Museo Correr, painted plan of Venice (17th ct.) 2.jpg and File:Venice, Museo Correr, painted plan of Venice (17th ct.), Pza.jpg maybe for cracks) --MenkinAlRire (talk) 19:42, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

@MenkinAlRire: How is that? – Pbrks (t  c) 21:08, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
@Pbrks this seems to how it is done properly. Thank you very, very much. The cropping all around is now obvious and very tight (the isle on the left and all the ships cut by the frame), that's a bummer. I hope, you didn't spend too much time on it, since I didn't know, if I use it at all. - Another thing: everytime I try to zoom in the viewer (on a tablet) the image crashes and loads again in the default size (which is very small). I will try it later on the desktop where I don't expect it to be a problem. But nevertheless it's somewhat curious. - I'll decide later, if I use it, and will report. Thanks, again. MenkinAlRire (talk) 09:54, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
@MenkinAlRire: I've redone the stitching by hand. Is that better? – Pbrks (t  c) 12:04, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
Wow, this looks right. You used the bottom frame line, really good, and on there is a bit more space all around, cool. Now the blurry parts are even more disappointing. I am thinking about reducing the size because of it, it's really huge now (that is probably why my tablet couldn't handle it). I am really grateful that you even tried again. The chance that I will plant it somewhere in WP are higher now. Thank you very much @Pbrks (man of not many words). MenkinAlRire (talk) 12:27, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

Unclear bas-relief

Article(s): w:de:Altpersische Religion (currently undergoing a review to become a featured article)

Request
This is the only photo of this bas-relief, but the relief is quite unclear, maybe due to the illumination. It should clearly show the man with a falcon head and the "worm" he is killing (This specific relief is of scholarly significance, a unique case, of how Persians handled the religious/cultural differences in Egypt.) --Z 14:39, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Request
Hello. Martin illustrated twenty magazine covers for Collier's. This suggestion for a cover was turned down. It may not seem like much, but it is unique and helps to back up the creative process, stated in a section of the illustrator's article. I uploaded the image a few years back, and never made any alternations except trying to darken the camera flash area. I don't know if anything can be done here. Is it possible to lighten the sheet without also lightening the words? Can the words be made darker and the sheet lighter? I was only able to decipher the text by blowing it up. Complete details are on the file page. Thanks. JimPercy (talk) 23:51, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
@JimPercy, please get a flatbed scanner that can handle largish documents, or find someone whose scanner you can borrow. It will allow much better reproduction of your fairly unique collection. JayCubby (talk) 18:23, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
I have a flatbed scanner. I know who has the original, but chances of my getting a better copy are uncertain. JimPercy (talk) 19:37, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
@JimPercy, contrast enhanced as best I could (without really painstaking regional contrast adjustment by hand), but there is not a lot to work with.If it fits in your flatbed scanner, scan it and upload the TIFF as a new file.
I thought this was a picture of the original paper, no? Is it a microfilm copy (it would explain the contrast issues!)? JayCubby (talk) 20:06, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
Thanks. I likely will lighten it up some on my own to look more presentable. It's more important for the drawing to be clear than the writing. I plan on later this year trying to either get the original by mail or a better copy to work with, but I don't know if it will be successful. JimPercy (talk) 22:30, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
