This page contains an overview of Images without id reports. These are galleries of images on Wikimedia Commons that are used to illustrate a monument on a monuments list or is in a monuments related category but which does not carry a monument tracker template. To help you add these templates the 'images without id' reports have been developed. They list images together with the tracking template to add and the appropriate id when that can be determined. All the pages and the statistics are updated on a regular basis by a bot.

How does it work?

Every night a ErfgoedBot updates the Monuments database with all the lists we have on Wikipedia. One of the values it identifies is if there is a known image for a particular Monument. After it has looked at all of the lists it examines all of the use of monument tracker templates on Wikimedia Commons. If it discovers that one of the images used in the list does not contain a tracker template then it makes a note of this, and the associated id. It also looks in the base category for that monument type and makes a note of any untracked images. The images it has made notes about are reported on the Images without id page. The bot can also be used to automatically add the template when the id is known but due to the known limitations (see below) this feature is not enabled by default. For the bot to process a country the imagesWithoutIdPage configuration variable must be set.

How can you help?

Go to the images without id page (linked below). Look at the suggested images and if appropriate add the template to the image on Wikimedia Commons. For images where no id is suggested you need to first determine the monument it depicts.

Known limitations

• There are some situations in which the bot will report an image despite of carrying the tracking template. If you come across one of these please let the international WLM team know.
• The bot assumes that the tracker template only takes the id as its parameter. If this is not the case the format of the suggested template addition will be wrong, please make a note of this in the localised instructions (see below).
• The bot assumes that the tracker template makes use of a tracking category where the ids are used as a sort key. If this is not the case let the international WLM team know.

How can I localise the instructions?

Since the reports are overwritten by Erfgoedbot each time the list is updated you cannot add instructions (or categories) directly to the page. To solve this the /header sub-page is automatically included at the top of the page, if it exists. Thus to add instructions for volunteers in your own language simply create the /header sub-page with the required information.

To localise the message used when there are no more images without ids, simply create a /done sub-page with the desired message.
