WLM 2017
@JeanFred: It looks like the following changes need to be made (countries that withdrew): -aw, -lb, -mx, -ng. Thanks! Effeietsanders (talk) 09:46, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
Done − thanks for letting me know :).- (Technically, it probably does not matter since these countries would not have upload, and countries only get considered by the tool if there uploads in the country category).
- Jean-Fred (talk) 09:55, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
- It shouldn't, but people of course /do/ upload, despite not participating :) That is why I noticed ;) Thanks! Effeietsanders (talk) 12:25, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
WLUS India
@Jean-Frédéric: Could please configure this tool to harvest the stats of Commons:Wiki Loves Uniformed services (India), that happened for the first time this year. The category is Category:Images from Wiki Loves Uniformed services (India). Please ping me if you need any information or data. --Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talk · mail) 15:52, 4 October 2017 (UTC) @Jean-Frédéric: Reminder ping. --Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talk · mail) 05:27, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Krishna Chaitanya Velaga: , sorry for the delay.
- I’m afraid that it is not possible. As of now, for several reasons, the tool is highly constrained in what it works on − basically just Wiki Loves Earth and Monuments. Adding WLA was already a stretch. I have started work to make it more general but it will not be ready any time soon.
- Sorry :-(
- Jean-Fred (talk) 07:19, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Jean-Frédéric: Hi Jean, no issues. Can you suggest me any similar tool or ways to track similar stats for this contest? I just want to know; contributions by users, along with their registration dates.--Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talk · mail) 10:13, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Jean-Frédéric: , did you have some time to make this tool more general? Alternatively, is there a documentation somewhere on how to install another instance with a different selection of contests? -Sylvain Boissel WMFr (talk) 14:03, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
(Somewhat belatedly) There is documentation at wikitech:Tool:Wikiloves. Jean-Fred (talk) 13:48, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
Adding Wiki Love Culture
Hello, I'm adding Wiki Love Culture or Wiki Cinta Budaya. Could someone please take a look. Our competition start 01-30 September 2018, and Indonesia is +UTC 7 Beeyan (talk) 05:37, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

Eswatini
Hello, Swaziland was renamed in Eswatini in 2018. And the WLA 2020 category was renamed today... So, we have now categories with the old name and others with the new one (see Category:Wiki Loves Africa in Eswatini). Is it possible to use the two names? GuillaumeG (talk) 19:25, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello. The tool still uses Swaziland and has not switched to Eswatini a year later :( Anthere (talk)
- @GuillaumeG and Anthere: Sorry, only seeing this report now. Filed it as phab:T309562.
- Here would be the rough plan:
- in Module:WL data, replace the mapping sz → Swaziland to sz → Eswatini → that way, the tool would expect files in “Images from X 20YZ in Eswatini”.
- in the code, override for WLA 2015-2017 to look for Images in Swaziland.
- If that sounds good, I’ll get to it soonish.

Wales' code not working?
I've edited the Wales code here but, doesn't seem to generate the stats. Llywelyn2000 (talk) 13:06, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- I now see that the 'the data is updated once a day'! Thanks! Llywelyn2000 (talk) 13:17, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- This link still not working. Can someone fix gb-wal Wales please. Llywelyn2000 (talk) 13:25, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
WL Folklore
As you will probably already be aware, Wiki Loves Folklore is taking place right now.
It would be really good to centralize basic general statistics/metrics for this on the Wiki Loves Competition Tools.
Could someone who knows Lua and has the appropriate access please add Wiki Loves Folklore on the relevant Commons module? Thanks! --ToniSant (talk) 09:45, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- Pinging @Jean-Frédéric just in case. It would be great if you could give your input on this as it would benefit a relatively large number of Wikimedians in emerging areas of the Wikimedia Movement map. Thanks! ToniSant (talk) 20:49, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- I am not sure how to add this contest. All other contests are country based and as such added to this module. Wiki Loves Folklore is not country based and a global contest. If we add this contest, we need to indicate somehow that the contest is global and not country specific. In the module the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes are used, but reading the article I do not see a code for the full Earth/all countries. Therefore I propose to use the code
globalfor situations like this. I implemented this in this module. Romaine (talk) 19:06, 2 July 2022 (UTC)- Not-countries based contests are not supported by this tool, as hinted in wikitech:Tool:Wikiloves#Scope.
- That said, Wiki Loves Folklore does appear to be country-based, per Category:Images from Wiki Loves Folklore 2020 by country, and would thus be in scope of the tool.
- Adding a new scope however requires code changes, not only configuration changes − see eg phab:T182956 & the associated commit for an idea.
- Please file a Phab task for this. What would help me would be to provide:
- a link to a logo (if applicable)
- the relevant color scheme to use (if applicable)
- Thanks! Jean-Fred (talk) 15:39, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks,Jean-Fred! I've opened phab:T313588 as you suggested. I've also included a link to the competition logo there. Happy to provide more input, if necessary, mindful that my coding skills are rather limited, as I just pointed out in an email to Romaine earlier today. Thanks again! -- ToniSant (talk) 11:18, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Folklore 2023 is about to start on February 1. I'm not sure whether phab:T313588 was resolved. I know some work has taken place on it but I don't think it has been fully resolved, and it also looks like WLF 2023 will need to be added to take in stats for this year too. Issue with the data of the WLE United Arab Emirates 2021 and 2022
@Jean-Frédéric and Romaine: There are no statestic for United Arab Emirates the same us in the last year, maybe someone can help to fix this? I have open a task on fabricator but with out any results until now. thank you in advance Reda Kerbouche (talk) 07:04, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping.
- As explained in phab:T304327, the tool expects category names to be consistent − so far all UAE categories were names
Images_from_Wiki_Loves_<topic>_<year>_in_the_United_Arab_Emirates(note the the). - I added an exception in the code for WLE 2021 and 2021, but overall it would be nice if category names would be consistent across years and competitions.

Wickedly and wonderfully wild Wales, but not working
Hi, wacky Wikipedians! Can someone please tell me why wonderful Wales isn't on the chart? Many thanks, Wordly Witty Wobin aka Llywelyn2000 (talk) 20:29, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
- Changed gb-wls to gb-wal for WLE 2022. It should hopefully solve the problem. /Axel Pettersson (WMSE) (talk) 09:50, 10 June 2022 (UTC)
- That is problematic because the official code for Wales is
GB-WLS, see: en:ISO 3166-2:GB. Romaine (talk) 10:37, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
- That is problematic because the official code for Wales is
Wales = ["gb-wls"]
N.B. Cymru / Wales = ["gb-wls"] NOT ["gb-wal"]. Llywelyn2000 (talk) 14:31, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
WL Folklore 2024
Wiki Loves Folklore 2024 starts today. I'm not sure what needs to be done to capture statistics for it through the WL data tool. Thanks! -- ToniSant (talk) 09:19, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

- @Jean-Frédéric @Romaine can you have a look at the statistics for WLF? It hasn't been updated for some days.
- Doesn't it work because of my change some days ago? Z thomas 11:48, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, @Z thomas: it looks like that change broke it. :-) Unless @Jean-Frédéric or @Romaine know otherwise, of course. Perhaps it's because you've included far more countries than are actually taking part in WLF too, so the code is possibly looking for Commons categories that don't exist and hanging. Can you revert please? Thanks! -- ToniSant (talk) 10:31, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping. Looking at the changes, i don’t see anything wrong. The tool is also fairly forgiving, it should not trip on an empty category.
- I checked the logs, there have been 4 successful updates:
- Saved folklore2024: 6sec, 9 countries, 129 uploads
- Saved folklore2024: 4sec, 16 countries, 512 uploads
- Saved folklore2024: 4sec, 19 countries, 646 uploads
- Saved folklore2024: 5sec, 19 countries, 1051 uploads
- I also enabled a crontab so that data for Wiki Loves Folklore 2024 gets updated every 30mn, instead of once a day. Jean-Fred (talk) 14:00, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Jean-Fred! -- ToniSant (talk) 16:18, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

- @Jean-Frédéric It's me again. I guess, at Wiki Loves Folklore we don't get all participants of the last day. because the time is 000000. is it possible to change this automatically?
- For example all pictures of User:Hubert Hunscheidt aren't count in the statistics of WLF 2024 because he uploaded at March 31st like
Z thomas 06:40, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- I don’t really get the issue. If the end date is put as 20240331000000, then yes the pictures from 2024-03-31 are excluded. If you want them included you can indeed replace with 20240331235959 − or with 20240401000000 for that matter (one second is not going to change much). Jean-Fred (talk) 11:12, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Jean-Frédéric Thanks for your answer. you got the issue :-) because of 20240331000000 all pictures from 2024-03-31, that's the point. your answer helped
- I will replace them :-)
- I guess the statistics works with UTC?
- And last thing: I like the tool. It's cool and pretty helpful. Thanks for it :-) Greetings from Dresden Z thomas 06:57, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

Using of this module onwiki
This module is used by various tools, but I would like to use data from the module also in another page on Commons. What should I add behind {{#invoke:WL data| to retrieve a specific time for project W, country X, year Y and start/end Z? Romaine (talk) 14:01, 10 August 2024 (UTC)
wlfood ph and wlfashion ph
I added wlfood ph and wlfashion ph data upon the request of the organizers. After a quick read from the relevant pages, it seems that wlfood ph will be added with the cronjob since it was peviously added to the whitelisted scopes, which is not the case for wl fashion ph. Any help is appreciated. -- Mrb Rafi (talk) 18:40, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! You are correct:
- The `food` scope exists, so new additions to it will be picked up automatically − looks like it’s the case ? https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/food
- the `fashion` scope does not exist, so it won’t be picked up. Per wikitech:Tool:Wikiloves#Scope, the tool might not be a good fit for that one.
- Hope that helps, Jean-Fred (talk) 10:50, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Jean-Frédéric, apologies for replying late, was occupied with my academics. Wlfood ph seems to work fine, excpt the numbers - the number of total uploads is different in the tool from the source category; I probably messed up with the starting and the ending dates, any help is appreciated. As per wlfashion, isn't it possible to whitelist this scope? Wlfood existed in the tool when it was being organized in only one country (before wlfood ph has been added in the WL_data page). -- Mrb Rafi (talk) 10:55, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Wiki Loves Africa 2025
Hello,
Please, who can help to have the page 2025 of Wiki Loves Africa on Wiki Loves Tool Forge ?

- Are there any changes in participating countries, time of the contest or time zones compared to last year? GPSLeo (talk) 08:18, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the ping, I had not seen the request.
- And thanks GPSLeo for the question, indeed that would be helpful. Here is a copy of the 2024 configuration with 2024 replaced with 2025. Please amend as fit (removing countries that do not participate, adding countries that did participate ; fix all the start/end dates) and I (or anyone else) can copy it back to module page. Jean-Fred (talk) 19:23, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Jean-Frédéric and @GPSLeo;
- I have gone through all the codes below and have come up with the following ones that should be added:
- WESTERN SAHARA - EH
- MAYOTTE - YT
- Haiti - HT (I know it is not in Africa, but the community is part of the contest)
- Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha - SH
- And there is this category that would not be included under the country codes:
- I am not sure how you would make sure it was included.
- There are also the audio and video files - I am not sure if these should be added or not, and if so how, but they are also entrants to the competition:
- I hope that helps and doesn't confuse things further!! Islahaddow (talk) 08:43, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, I added the code below in the module page. I have included Haiti and Mayotte (but not EH nor SH: I think there was no picture from these countries/regions). GuillaumeG (talk) 00:41, 6 July 2025 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Folklore 2026
The project started today. Can someone update the statistics and add this year's competition? Thanks, MikyM (talk) 20:27, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- @MikyM: Hi! See above: In Special:Diff/1161093441 I added a configuration for 2026, by copying the 2025 configuration and replacing 2025 with 2026. This is just a basis, please amend as needed: removing countries that do not participate, adding countries that are participating ; and fix all the start/end dates. Any change will be picked up at the next tool run. Jean-Fred (talk) 12:24, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
- Data has now populated and will refresh every 30 minutes https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/folklore/2026 − currently stands at “76 countries, 7131 uploads”. Jean-Fred (talk) 19:02, 7 February 2026 (UTC)

- tool seem to be down for a few days. there is a problem with the update/statistics. can you take a look? MikyM (talk) 17:17, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- What do you mean by “tool seem to be down”? I can access https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/ just fine. Jean-Fred (talk) 17:57, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- on the page https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/folklore/2026 there have been no updates for several days now. The statistics appear to be stuck — the numbers are not changing at all, as if the regular updates are not running. MikyM (talk) 18:10, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Huh, look like something serious. Filed as phab:T420408. Jean-Fred (talk) 19:58, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- there seems to be no help, and the tool is crucial to us. There is no other statistics tool and the uploader tracking tool also doesn't work. hopes someone will help MikyM (talk) 22:28, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
- This is indeed a crucial tool for all Wiki Loves contests, and especially for the current edition of Wiki Loves Folklore, which hasn't been updated in several days. Hopefully someone can do something about this soon. (Thanks @Jean-Fréd for opening phab:T420408!) -- ToniSant (talk) 16:46, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
- @ToniSant and MikyM: Should be fixed now. https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/folklore/2026 has data until March 31st. Sorry for the inconvenience, let me know if it looks good to you. Jean-Fred (talk) 20:34, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Africa 2026
The Wiki Loves Africa 2026 competition runs from 1 March to 30 April 2026. Currently, the statistics tool has not yet been updated to include this year’s edition. Could someone please update the tool and add the 2026 competition so that participants and organizers can follow the contributions and statistics in real time?
This would be very helpful for the different national teams and contributors who are actively participating in this year’s contest. Thank you in advance for your support.--Mounir TOUZRI (talk) 09:40, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you TOUMOU for this. Hello Jean-Fred, can you help update the statistics tool to include this years Wiki Loves Africa campaign please. And also the was a challenge with Ivory Coast last year, the Ivory Coast category was missing from the 2025 statistics on the tool because of wrong category, can you help update the 2025 campaign to include this Ivory Coast category before updating 2026 Wiki Loves Africa campaign on the Wiki Loves Tool. Hilary (talk) 10:33, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Could someone please adding a configuration for WLA 2026 like Special:Diff/1052845397? That would be super helpful. Jean-Fred (talk) 20:36, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
Wiki Science Competition India 2025
Hi @Jean-Fred, I just find out your tool https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/. It's very good to check all the stats at one place. I am wondering if you can add Wiki Science Competition India 2025 in the list as well. Here's is the category. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks, Dev Jadiya (talk) 08:40, 17 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Dev Jadiya, I added in the module, hope within 24 hours it also appears in the stats, if not then let me know. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 14:03, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Wiki Loves ZEOs
Hi @Jean-Fred, I was wondering if it would be possible to add Commons:Wiki Loves ZEOs 2026 (and the previous version Commons:Wiki Loves ZEOs 2018) to the tool? The contest is not country-based, but language-based, so I don't know if this could be a problem. The category with the files is in Category:Uploaded via Campaign:vaz-2026. The Wiki Loves tool would be super helpful in order to write the report for the grant 🙏. - Sahaquiel - Hast du eine Frage?
