English: Kerala, officially Keralam (en:Malayalam language: കേരളം Kēraḷaṁ), is a state located in southwestern India. Neighbouring states include Karnataka to the north and Tamil Nadu to the south and east; to the west is the Arabian Sea. Major cities include the state capital Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kochi (Cochin), and Kozhikode (Calicut). The principal spoken language is Malayalam.

Beaches and coastline

Backwaters
- Mangrove forest on Valapattanam river
- A sunset at the backwaters of Kerala at Astamudi in Kollam district.
- Boat safari at the Periyar wildlife sanctuary in Kottayam district of the south central Kerala.
- A houseboat in the backwaters. Originally they were (about 2 decades back) used as carrier of goods - mainly the agricultural produce like rice, coconut and the industrial goods like clay, coir and tiles. Currently they are re modified as floating houses, a main attraction in the Kerala tourism.
Highlands, mountains, and hill stations
