Though educated at HTS, Dordrecht as electical/electronics engineer, my first job, starting April 1968, involved processing data with the Leyden University computer, an early IBM 360 (I think it was). After attending 2 weekly sessions of the student course on ALGOL 60, I skipped the remainder, as I had raced ahead and needed to have working programs at short notice. It was the start of several years of punching cards, carrying paper tapes to the Computing Centre and stacks of paper back to the office.
After taking a BSc Mathematics and Computer Science, I started on a career as ICT professional. Involved in a variety of projects, I learned and used many tools and techniques. For instance the programming languages Assemblers, Basic, APL, LISP, HPL, PL1, Pascal, C, C++, VC, VB, Tcl, Java.
