In the original image, pink indicates the peripheral area, while blue and green represent the core area. However, the distinction between green and blue is confusing, and there is significant controversy over the definition of the core area. For example, Baoding, as a component city of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitan area, should be included in the core area of the Bohai Economic Rim. Similarly, the industrial cities of Fushun and Benxi, located in the Liaoning Central-South Industrial Base, should also be included in the core area. Further more, the implementation of 240-hour visa-free transit for major countries across the entire regions of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Shandong, and Liaoning, reflecting the improvement of the overall openness standards in the region. Thus distinguishing between core areas and peripheral areas in this region is not that meaningful. Given that existing commons file already contain a relatively reasonable core/peripheral classification diagram, and since this diagram is named "Bohai Economic Rim", its main function should be to reflect the overall scope of the region.I will upload an improved version of the original image, unify the color of blocks into blue, and primarily reflecting all prefecture-level administrative regions within the area.Seine River (talk) 04:56, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

The Siachen Glacier (hashed area) has been under India's territorial control since 1984. See here. In order to reflect the de facto territorial control, requesting for permission to change the region from hashed, to a solid #f4f4f5 colour. Makes no particular sense to keep certain disputed areas hashed, while some in solid colour, when they are controlled/administered by the same nation.
