Català: Esfinx de marbre, probablement era la base d'una taula, amb cap de dona, cos de lleó i ales d'àguila. Les estàtues d'esfinxs solien ser fites funeràries en el seu paper de guardianes de les tombes. Època romana, circa 120-140 dC., procedent de Monte Cagnolo, als afores de Lanuvium, prop de Roma, Itàlia. Dimensions: 840 mm x 800 mm x 550 mm. GR 1805,0703.40 (escultura 1719). Pertany a l'exposició La bellesa del cos, al Museu Arqueològic d'Alacant. Forma part de l'exposició permanent del Museu Britànic. |
