Proven sockpuppetry and alleged abuse of several accounts
Hello,
due to some actions on EN-WP, I learned that Fita-cola dos dois lados (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log) block user is the master of the sock Deletion Delayer (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log) block user. Both accounts at first acted like being different persons on Commons:Deletion requests/File:Micro and nano view of gecko's toe.jpg, later on, the sock confirmed the relationship by himself: Special:Diff/1195055256. A EN-CU actually handed down local blocks against those accounts. Am I right is thinking that the editing in the DR is to be seen as abuse here? Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 02:31, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- Absolutely. This certainly merits a block, and the only question is how long (certainly indef for one of the accounts, possibly a determinate period for the other). - Jmabel ! talk 05:11, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- About 12 hours, no one else has weighed in, I will indef-block both. Jmabel ! talk 17:04, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
Done - Jmabel ! talk 17:08, 11 April 2026 (UTC)- I've closed another report for the same socks at COM:AN. Shaan SenguptaTalk 17:30, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

Democfest sock block request
I previously opened an RFCU case, but it was declined because CU requests from other wikis are permitted, which I was unaware of. I am requesting an admin to block all of the accounts mentioned per the enwiki SPI. Thank you. CutlassCiera 15:01, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Cutlass: just to clarify, is this the list?
- Democfest (talk · contributions · Statistics · Recent activity · block log · User rights log · uploads · Global account information)
- GaryJAllen (talk · contributions · Statistics · Recent activity · block log · User rights log · uploads · Global account information)
- Shrubshire (talk · contributions · Statistics · Recent activity · block log · User rights log · uploads · Global account information)
- DenWillBax (talk · contributions · Statistics · Recent activity · block log · User rights log · uploads · Global account information)
- Seafoul (talk · contributions · Statistics · Recent activity · block log · User rights log · uploads · Global account information)
- and can you give some indication of what they have done that merits blocking? Just having multiple accounts on Commons is not usually an offense, unless the accounts are doing things like both chiming in on the same discussion, "supporting" each other, creating a false impression of conflicts, evading a block, harassing someone while trying not to involve the primary account, etc.
- Given that Democfest has been active over a decade and certainly has some good contributions, it is likely that this would better be handled at COM:ANU. - Jmabel ! talk 17:21, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
Support blocking the socks. Using several accounts is fine if disclosed, which is not the case here. Yann (talk) 18:34, 11 April 2026 (UTC)- The use of multiple accounts seems to be a failed attempt to avoid scrutiny. Each account serves a different interest of the sockmaster, with Seafoul being cities, GaryJAllen being cars, and DenWillBax and Shrubshire being trains. It's clearly a clever move that was intended to make it more difficult to block them as a sock on enwiki. CutlassCiera 19:04, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
User:NotLessOrEqual socks
- NotLessOrEqual (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log)
- Acmetaut (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log)
- ChienShiEr (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log)
- HyperrPoint (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log)
- Bogeywrap (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log)
- Sashmark (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log)
Some suspiciously linked hardware photos in Wikipedia's en:Micro-Star International article:
- File:MSl Aegis X.jpg from single-upload Commons user Acmetaut (currently up for deletion at Commons:Deletion requests/File:MSl Aegis X.jpg as "suspected Flickrwashing"). Acmetaut added the photo to enwiki themselves; they have since been blocked there as a sock of NotLessOrEqual.
- File:ITX 4080S Expert.jpg from single-upload Commons user ChienShiEr, which has really bad upscaling (especially on the top grille) yet a noisy grain on top of that.
- File:AeroITX.jpg from single-upload Commons user HyperrPoint (uploaded three minutes after ChienShiEr's image).
- File:MSI GTX 1080ti cropped.jpg from single-upload Commons user Sashmark; it purports to be a derivative of two grainier images uploaded a few minutes prior by double-upload user Bogeywrap (File:1080tiMSI.jpg and File:1080tiMSI 2.jpg). The originals look AI upscaled (eg. the text on the jar in the second image) with a noisy grain on top. This grain disappears in Sashmark's version.
Sashmark added the second, third and fourth images to the Wikipedia article in a single edit, their only edit to Wikipedia. Acmetaut is still active on Commons, the other accounts were all abandoned.
This looks like of User:NotLessOrEqual, who has used single-upload throwaway accounts to upload AI-upscaled versions of other people's photos in the past, including MSI graphics cards. They've tried various washing routes over the years (DeviantArt, Flickr) to disguise their origin, I assume the "Commonswashing" of Bogeywrap is a variation on that. It's possible that their deleted 2024 file File:GTX1080tiMSI.jpg is even the same photo.
Suggest all uploads be deleted as likely copyright violations. Acmetaut should be blocked per the enwiki block; the others seem behaviourally obvious, I don't know if it's appropriate to request a checkuser sweep for any other single-upload accounts who've uploaded AI-upscaled photos of computer hardware or guns. Belbury (talk) 13:14, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- Done a bit of tidying up but not got time to do some of the detail. However I strongly suspect you are correct. Thanks for the report. Herby talk thyme 13:34, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
Propose unblocking ALi BOUBACAR
This one is a little tricky, and I just want to make sure there is something at least close to consensus. I'll give a brief summary here; you can get a pretty full picture at User talk:ALi BOUBACAR.
Relatively briefly: the account ALi BOUBACAR was used for unacceptable promotional purposes. It is quite possible that Ali Boubacar (the person, not the account) was only indirectly responsible for this. Basically, it looks to me like Mr. Bobacar delegated some tasks to the wrong person and they went about it very incorrectly, trying to publicize him with a mass of sock accounts. I believe he is most likely telling the truth that he was not hands-on with this and that he genuinely understands that the person who did this for him acted inappropriately on his behalf.
At this point, Mr. Boubacar does not even have control of the (blocked) account ALi BOUBACAR; he has ABB-NE and, other than a few efforts to notify us of the situation, has refrained from using the account because it would constitute block evasion while ALi BOUBACAR is blocked. At User talk:ALi BOUBACAR (which he has accessed with temporary accounts, and I don't really see what else he could do to discuss his block with no access to the account itself) he has been entirely civil in discussing this, has seemed to have a reasonable understanding of the situation and, in our most recent back-and-forth (see that talk page) has answered my questions to my satisfaction, including what he would like to do on Commons going forward and that he "strictly promise[s] that only [he] will have access to my account" and "fully understand[s] that any self-promotional material will lead to a permanent block without appeal." I don't really see what more he could say, and I'd like to unblock ALi BOUBACAR so that his use of ABB-NE will not constitute block evasion.
Pinging @GeorgR (de), Achim55, The Squirrel Conspiracy, Yann, Taivo, Matrix, Jameslwoodward, Josve05a, all of whom have at some point been involved in the situation. Unless I turn out to be firmly in a minority here, I would like to unblock. I'll give at least 24 hours before I take any action here. - Jmabel ! talk 05:07, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
