This workshop is part of the Graphic Lab, a project aimed at picture retouching to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. To ask questions or make a suggestions, see the talk page of the graphic lab page.

This specific page is the requests page for the Photography Workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Best to get this images right would be with to the original raw files. Work on the jpgs will get nothing out of the many raw processors magic. Grunpfnul (talk) 23:41, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

There is an irrelevant hand and wrist at the right side of the pic of Karl Hess

The painting had been in storage rolled up for a long time before being backed and put back up. The cropped image clearly shows the fold lines and has other bits of damage. Could these be cleared up? I would prefer that it was saved as a jpg. Thank you ---- Deadstar (msg) 14:00, 16 May 2026 (UTC)

@Grunpfnul: that was quick - thanks! Looks great, but is it a bit grainy around the eyes? I can't put my finger on it exactly. -- Deadstar (msg) 16:06, 16 May 2026 (UTC)
@Deadstar: The grainy-ness you see may just be a result of how thumbnails are generated. jpg files automatically sharpen when scaled down for thumbnails, whereas tiff file do not. For example, see the two identical images below, just saved with different filetypes:
