Copyvio: these photos of a former Disneyworld parade are neat; unfortunately, they all depict copyrighted parade floats and costumes, so we cannot host them.

 Keep the following:
Same as the other Sage of Time photo. The costume he's wearing is not distinct enough from regular clothing to be copyright protected. Haute couture fashion is also not protected by copyright, is it? Because there's no copyright protection for clothing (only for patterns on clothing and if the costume is mascot style and shows a copyrighted character, otherwise we're rather lenient on Cosplay stuff). The only copyrightable thing about this outfit is the mask, but the mask is De minimis, and in the last photo the mask is even partially cut off so it's really not the main subject of the photo. Nakonana (talk) 20:18, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
The mask and other sculptural elements of the costume in those photos (e.g. the staff, metal framework around the head, "tablets" on the cloak, etc) are well above the threshold of originality, and are in no way "regular clothing". Omphalographer (talk) 20:25, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
It's haute couture. See other examples of haute couture:
The mask is clearly De Minimis in some of the photos (like in the one where it's only partially visible). The metal framework around the head can well be similar to those seen in some elaborate hats or fascinators or collars. The "tablets" on the cloak are hardly noticeable in some of the images. And I don't know about staffs being copyrighted / copyrightable. Nakonana (talk) 11:41, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

File:Iraq, Saddam Hussein (222).jpg

This file was initially tagged by ~2025-35376-01 as Speedy (speedydelete) and the most recent rationale was: The file is incorrectly claimed to be public domain. The image is clearly a copyrighted frame from BBC News coverage (see identical frame in BBC's article published in 2001). This means the file is NOT from Iraqi state television as described in the current description. The current licensing is therefore false and misleading. BBC news footage is fully copyrighted and not public domain in Iraq, the US, or anywhere else. This file has been misattributed for years, but long-term presence does not validate an incorrect copyright claim. This is a clear case of copyright violation (CSD F2) and should be speedily deleted immediately. Converted to regular DR, the image is widely in use, so there should be a discussion for this. Thanks.  Comment, this images was previously discussed here: Commons:Village pump/Copyright/Archive/2020/12#Works by Saddam Hussein regime. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 14:55, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
I would need clarification on whether BBC is the author or the Iraqi government. If I don't get that, I'd have to delete. Abzeronow (talk) 04:46, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

File:Abdullah Al-Ahmad with President Hafez Al-Assad.jpg

This file was initially tagged by ~2025-35376-01 as Speedy (speedydelete) and the most recent rationale was: The claimed “Own work” is implausible. This is a 1970s photograph of President Hafez al-Assad. The uploader (Joseph Al-Ahmad) cannot be the photographer of a 1970s image, and no evidence is provided that he owns the copyright. Therefore the licensing is invalid and the file is copyrighted. Converted to regular DR, not a valid speedy deletion reason, so there should be a discussion for this. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 15:22, 5 December 2025 (UTC)

Do we have direct evidence that the uploader would be too young to have taken a photograph in the 1970s? Because there are plenty of Commons contributors that took photographs in the 1970s, I've met a few in person. Abzeronow (talk) 04:55, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
