File:A map published in Amsterdam in 1768 by Anders Ackerman. It depicts Azerbaijan, Shirvan, and eastern Turcomania (Eastern Anatolia).png
Out of scope: this is an AI-generated image. (It may have been provided by the Ministy of Manuscript, but the metadata unambiguously indicates that it was generated or manipulated by ChatGPT.) If an original version of this map can be obtained, please upload that instead. Omphalographer (talk) 04:55, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Good day. The map is not an AI map; it's a real historical map. However, it says "Oldmaps" on it. I would like to request that you remove the word "Oldmaps" from Chatcpt and display it in its original form. I wanted it. Please take a look; this was the first version of the map. Etruksian (talk) 11:01, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- My English is a bit poor because I'm doing translation, I apologize. In short, I asked Chatcpt to delete the white word that said "Oldmaps" on it; if this is the map, then it's original. Etruksian (talk) 11:02, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

- It doesn't matter when the author died if it wasn't published early enough. --PlanespotterA320 (talk) 13:53, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
Keep PD in Russia: the author died before 1 January 1942, satisfying point 1 of {{PD-Russia-1996}} (which does not have a publication requirement). PD in the United States because it was not simultaneously published in the US and it was in the PD in Russia on the URAA date, so it is {{PD-Russia-1996}}. (There is no evidence for this, but if it was published reasonably quickly, it is also {{PD-US-expired}}). Best, --Mdaniels5757 (talk) 19:02, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

- Let me clarify. First, the image does look weird, as if Lenin is severely ill, and the photograph was taken poorly (or heavily retouched, which is a potential concern). As this photo is a historical document, a proper source is required, preferably with pertinent details of the photo. Second, it would be great to have sourced details on author/publication. Without them it is a potential copyvio. The arguments from the previous DR above are unsubstantiated - "the author died before 1 January 1942" - how do we know that? Materialscientist (talk) 06:51, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Well, the description says the photo was taken by Maria Ilyinichna Ulyanova who died in 1937, so we know that “the author died before 1 January 1942”. Or do you doubt the claim that the photo was taken by Ulyanova? Just asking in order to understand what’s the problem. – Aristeas (talk) 10:00, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Where can we verify that it was taken by Ulyanova? Materialscientist (talk) 20:26, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- It's is very likely because his illness was kept secret from the public so that only someone who was close to him could have taken the photo. A online available research paper at least confirms that the photo was taken in Lenin's last year of life, and it states that his condition was kept secret. Given that he was partially paralyzed, to keep his illness secret, he must have not gone out much, if at all, and only close people were allowed to see him. Plus, the paper states that his attending doctors were probably paid to keep silent. It's just extremely unlikely that some external third party photographer managed to take a photo of Lenin under these circumstances. Nakonana (talk) 17:21, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

This image gives me miso-sloppia. More importantly it’s an unused AI image that features a lot of wonky details and could easily be represented without AI Dronebogus (talk) 11:26, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep 1. good quality 2. in use on a user-page and 3. most importantly, a good useful representation of the intended subject 4. not just that but apparently the only free-licensed illustration of the subject in the world. Prototyperspective (talk) 12:50, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Only freely licensed depiction? That’s embarrassing. I’ll have to draw something myself then. Otherwise: 1) no, not good quality, there are a number of misgenerated objects in the background; 2) userpage images are not counted as COM:INUSE; and 3) I debate whether this is actually a good representation of the subject because it’s not obvious where the sound is coming from. It relies on onomatopoeia in text bubbles so it’s language dependent. Dronebogus (talk) 13:28, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- I haven't spotted any misgeneration issues in the image even after actively looking for it bow so I doubt they are compromising the usefulness of the image. I did not say the userpage use is counted as INUSE but it's still a point for keeping it. Where the sound is coming from is not important to the illustration. SomeFancyUsername (talk) 07:57, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- I also did some digging, unfortunately, with similar results: 1949 work by N. Sobol (Н. Соболь). There's a sculptor named Nikolay Sobol (w:uk:Соболь Микола Сергійович) but having been born in 1937 it's fairly certain that he has not authored this sculpture. His son also goes by that name but is obviously even younger.
- Then there's a artist named Naum Sobol (w:uk:Соболь Наум Фeдорович) who lived 1898–1967 and would fit the bill age-wise, but he's described as being a "painter, graphic artist, theater artist/painter" rather than a sculptor — although I've got to say I've come across cases where 2D artists had authored some 3D works.
- The Artists Union databank also doesn't have any other entries on "Соболь Н" other than the above. The only additional info is that the sculptor worked at the Zaporizhzhia Art and Production Workshops (Запорожские художественно-производственные мастерские). So, undelete in 2069 it is, I guess. too difficult to edit, add categories, etc; site is too complicated for easy usage. Name invalid (talk) 07:29, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Kept. Not a valid reason for deletion. Image can be used within Wikimedia's projects and if there is any personal rights issues arise we have a template for that (({{Personality rights}}). While you may find the site hard to use you can all ways request some help and I'm sure there would be a few people willing to help. Bidgee (talk) 12:05, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Similar to UK, there is no FoP for "graphic works" in Canada A1Cafel (talk) 15:44, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Can be blurred. So why even bother listing for a DR? Bidgee (talk) 16:47, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Please go ahead and blur it, Bidgee. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 22:58, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
Keep I agree with Bidgee : even with the poster blurred, the photograph has still good composition. Even though in Canada, taking a picture of a person in a public space does not legally require consent, the image does however raises questions as to whether it is morally acceptable to take picture of presumably homeless people sleeping in a public space and releasing them under a commerce-compatible license... but that debate certainly pertains more to the House of Commons than on a delreq page. User's three other photos of Mumbai skylines were taken from other websites without credit, so the same probably holds for this one. No EXIF. Belbury (talk) 16:24, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Photo of a page of 1964 Greek newspaper. Copyright duration is 70 years in Greece, so it is too recent to be in PD. Not sure when it will be (maybe in 2035 if assumed to be a work of unknown creator). C messier (talk) 17:24, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Low quality AI slop; uploader personal interest only, out of Commons scope MPF (talk) 21:50, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi! As the creator of this image, I have a few questions/comments.
- Most importantly, I would like to push back against the AI slop comment. I spent about two hours creating this myself on canva by moving layers around and playing with different elements and shapes. To be clear, this is NOT AI. It was 100% human generated.
- I can see the personal interest angle. The reason I uploaded it was because I was practicing adding images to a wikipedia page (my own user page) and I needed something that I had created myself as to not interfere with any copyrights. If practice is not allowed, that's fine. I'm still very much a beginner, and I apologize if I broke any rules.
- Thank you. KaityKaityKaity (talk) 14:10, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
