Deutsch: Die Operette (ital. „kleine Oper“) ist ein musikalisches Bühnenwerk. Der Begriff stammt aus dem 17. Jahrhundert. Seit dem 19. Jahrhundert bezeichnet der Begriff Stücke mit einer leichten, eingängigen Musik und einer heiteren oder sentimentalen Handlung.
Français : Une opérette (ital. « petit opéra ») un genre musical, mêlant comédie, chant et généralement danse. Elle se différencie de l’opéra-comique par l'utilisation de musique dite « légère ».
Magyar: Az operett egy színpadi, zenei műfaj. Mozart nevezte el operettnek. Szó szerinti jelentése: „kis opera” vagy „operácska”.
