First, the whole painting picture has 3D elements that need to be cropped (it comes from the website in source). Beyond that, though, these are all uploaded under a PD-EU-anonymous license. But they clearly aren't anonymous, and are far from old enough for a PD-old-assumed license.

Uploader may have claimed anonymous or pseudonymous because there is no known artist that matches this name. There is an Aldo Zanardelli active from 1960-1970 with no know birth or death dates, but no connection to this art piece. -Nard (Hablemonos) (Let's talk) 07:04, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Il ne s'agit pas des armoiries officielles de la Commune d'Ormont-Dessus. Le secrétaire municipal de la Commune requiert la suppression immédiate du fichier qui donne une représentation erronée des armoiries de la Commune. Tout du moins, il doit être indiqué que ce blason ne correspond pas au blason officiel, faute de quoi une action en justice pourra être intentée.  Keep Interprétation conforme au blasonnement D’azur au croissant d’or, surmonté d’une étoile du même et soutenu d’un mont à trois coupeaux de sinople en pointe., tout comme d'autres réalisations qui n'ont pas pour autant été proposées à la suppression, voir Category:Coats of arms of Ormont-Dessus.

This file is identical to the previously uploaded file File:Black Falcon diamond.jpg, which had been deleted a month ago, as the same photography, though in extremely lower resolution, had been found credited to the diamond-cutter Peter Herbosch. However, as an image in such high resolution is unlikely to have been copied from "somewhere", I've put in into a regular DR to eventually allow the uploader to provide a proper permission from Mr. Herbosch to VRT/OTRS, as the image itself is of encyclopedic interest IMO. -- Túrelio (talk) 09:16, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

It is highly likely that the author of the photograph is Viktor Karlovich Bulla (Виктор Карлович Булла). See the discussion in the cited source, which concludes with the indication of the presumed authorship. Bulla was repressed in 1938 and posthumously rehabilitated in 1958. Because of this, his copyright in Russia is protected until 2029 (1959+70). I consulted with lawyers, and they told me that the copyright law provision for posthumous rehabilitation (Clause 4 in Article 1281 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation) overrules the provision for transfer a work into the public domain in the case of unknown authorship during 70 years after its publication (Clause 2 in the same article). Therefore, based on the precautionary principle, the photo should be deleted until 2029. Yellow Horror (talk) 17:50, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

  •  Keep Viktor Bulla's rehabilitation has been discussed before, see Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_in_Category:Photographs_by_Viktor_Bulla and Commons:Copyright_rules_by_territory/Russia, bottom line Commons doesn't delete based on speculation, we don't KNOW this photo is by Viktor Bulla, also rehabilitation does not extend photos published during a person's lifetime, as is the case for this photo (published December 4, 1934 in Pravda). You misread COM:PCP as it states states that we only delete based on significant doubt. Also I can see the comments on that link you gave, someone has (very recently) changed the description, based on speculation.     also rehabilitation does not extend photos published during a person's lifetime — it does: Civil Code of the Russian Federation, article 1281, section 4: If the author of a work has been subjected to repression and posthumously rehabilitated, the effective term of the exclusive right shall be deemed extended, and 70 years shall be counted from January 1 of the year following the year of rehabilitation of the author of the work (Если автор произведения был репрессирован и посмертно реабилитирован, срок действия исключительного права считается продленным и семьдесят лет исчисляются с 1 января года, следующего за годом реабилитации автора произведения).     The source of the photograph is the Multimedia Art Museum project under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Moscow Department of Culture. Presumably, its administrators are competent enough. They acknowledged the arguments in the discussion as sufficient to list Bulla as the photo's supposed author. And that's the reason for my nomination here. Doesn't the supposed authorship raise "significant doubt" that the photograph is in the public domain according to Wikimedia Commons policy? --Yellow Horror (talk) 18:53, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

I do not think that this meets the strict standard of vandalism. Vandalism is an action designed to harm a wiki. I cannot comment on the accuracy of these images, but an attempt to help an article by adding decorative image elements which may not or may not be accurate is not vandalism per se. It is not the job of Commons to make content decisions for other wikis even if we think they are ill-advised. IronGargoyle (talk) 14:10, 31 December 2025 (UTC)
