The color displays may make this image a derivative work of the copyrighted video game. JudeHalley (talk) 01:02, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep COM:DM also those displays aren't part of the game, they're painted on. -Nard (Hablemonos) (Let's talk) 01:25, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- I don't see how being "painted on" makes a difference. The cabinet art on a vintage arcade machine is certainly copyrightable, for instance - how is this case different? Omphalographer (talk) 03:26, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep I do think these are de minimis. However we cut it they are copyrightable, but we're only displaying them in the context of the system as a whole.--Prosfilaes (talk) 02:06, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Comment One key aspect of DM is if the content in question can be removed or changed without reducing the image's quality. And as the Evan-Amos image is about the console, I can imagine that. --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 09:14, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

- @A1Cafel: There was a discussion back in 2022/23 regarding FoP and copyright for multiple images that showed advertisement banners in Japan. Most of the images got deleted for the reason mentioned above (no FoP for 2D work in Japan), however this image and another one were exempt from deletion, because the wrapped advertisement was deemed distored enough to not violate copyright. Similar cases can be found in this category: Wrap advertising in Japan. If required, I can search for the respective discussion from three years ago. Henni147 (talk) 08:57, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Nominating for deletion. The authenticity of this image is doubtful. It originates from Mehr News Agency, a semi-official Iranian outlet, and given the circulation of AI-generated and manipulated images related to the conflict, the possibility that the image is AI-generated or otherwise manipulated cannot be ruled out. The file also depicts an extremely graphic scene of a dead child with exposed organs. Due to the questionable provenance and the highly graphic nature of the image, community review is requested regarding whether this file is appropriate for Wikimedia Commons. Gharouni (talk) 10:35, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep, image is COM:INUSE in multiple wikis. No explanation or evidence provided to indicate this image is "AI-generated or otherwise manipulated". Commons can host images that are "extremely graphic" as long as the image is in-scope. In addition of being in-use, I think this image is educationally useful because it helps document a historic event by depicting the casualties of the en:2026 Iran war. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 21:08, 14 March 2026 (UTC)- Keep - No reason or justifcation that the image is

. Furthermore, the fact that it is asemi-official Iranian outlet

Keep. This image has been used by news sources such as Reuters and The Washington Post, confirming its validity. How graphic it is does not matter as long as it pertains to encyclopedic information, which it does. Hsnkn (talk) 04:06, 15 March 2026 (UTC)

Delete The image appears to be AI-generated. If one examines the debris and the shapes of the objects, there are unnatural and possibly repeated patterns. The relationship between the body and the surrounding objects also appears physically unusual. In addition, a significant portion of the image is obscured by another person in the foreground, even though the photographer could have taken a wider photograph; this is not evident here. Only limited body elements (mainly a hand) are clearly visible, and the way the body appears to emerge from the debris does not seem consistent with how such a situation would typically appear in reality. As mentioned by another user, there does not appear to be a matching image published on the website of Mehr News Agency. Furthermore, the image is attributed to a source associated with the government of the Iran, and the agency has previously faced criticism regarding image manipulation. More importantly, it is unclear how we can verify that this photograph actually depicts the claimed event (the reported attack on the school). There is no clear evidence confirming the location or the authenticity of the scene. Gharouni (talk) 07:48, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep None of the arguments presented above conclusively prove that the image was generated by AI.
- First of all, we are not dealing with a single photograph, but with a series of at least two images. Check the file history and compare the versions from March 1 by @999real and from March 9 by @Beao.
- These are similar shots taken within a short time frame, showing crushed and twisted fingers arranged in exactly the same way (elements that are particularly difficult for AI to generate). Likewise, fragments of rubble are arranged in exactly the same configuration. It is easy to distinguish pieces of concrete (sharp edges) from natural aggregate (smooth pebbles). The only place where one might suspect some form of alteration is the area where a Mehr News Agency watermark was likely removed.
- In the image, the physics and lighting are consistent — light, shadows, and dust behave naturally.
- Background elements that are blurred also do not contain any “AI artifacts.” We can see a blurred fragment of a shoe, yet it still has realistic laces, a sole, tread, and naturally formed folds and dirt on the material. The rescuer’s face is blurred and seen from an unusual angle, yet it still has an accurate and realistic profile, with clearly defined eyelashes, eyebrows, nose, and hair. The rescuer's face is the only object that moves significantly between frames, which exactly corresponds to the real spatial situation (position in the foreground).
- The argument that the photographer could have framed the shot differently is, in my opinion, unfounded. We should remember that the photo was not taken in a studio, but during an intense rescue operation and the search for potentially surviving individuals.
- The hand is shown in foreshortening, which gives it an unusual appearance, but only at first glance. The girl’s body is likely lying face down. A fragment of a sleeve is visible just above the elbow. The head is either under the rubble or has been severed. In the area where the back should be, there is a fragment of some fabric or material. It resembles children’s backpacks seen in other images .
- The texture of the skin on the fingers is clearly visible, including the pattern of lines at the joints and dirt under the fingernails. The hand is completely anatomically correct (aside from actual physical damage). The wounds and blood covered with dust also look entirely realistic.
- The fact that the rest of the body is not visible is nothing unusual. It is buried under debris or may have been torn apart by an explosion and is simply no longer there.
- This type of framing is characteristic of journalistic photographs of victims, such as the well-known image of the body of Iryna Filkina from Bucha. This framing captures the individual character of the victim (a small child in this case), while not emphasizing the brutality of a mutilated face or torn torso, making it suitable for public display.
- The Tasnim website mentioned contains only photos from victims’ funeral, so it is not surprising that this image does not appear there.
- The photo should definitely be kept as there is nothing to suggest it is fake. YazJazz (talk) 22:53, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- @YazJazz Thanks for sharing your opinion. However, I still believe this is an AI-generated image. What I forgot to mention earlier is that, when looking at the boot, it’s hard to believe that someone could realistically be standing on top of the body. That’s how it appears to me in this image. All the images in the file are the same; the only differences are cropping, watermark removal, or zooming. Gharouni (talk) 11:59, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep no indication whatsoever of the picture being AI-generated. The fact that the image is graphic or originates from an Iranian news outlet does not provide sufficient grounds for exclusion. It has also been used by RS like Reuters and the Washington Post, which indicates that these outlets have verified its authenticity before publication. Paprikaiser (talk) 00:04, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Keep all of the above listed items due the fact that permission is explicitly given in the source links themselves (for the ones that have source links), and for the one item that still lacks a clear source link, please allow at least a little more time to locate such missing link if possible before proceeding with deletion. To the best of my knowledge, all of these items currently under discussion are public domain (though I do understand the difficulty in proving a negative). And with all due respect, please note that previously deleted items such as the earlier Playboy picture (which I concede was an honest mistake on my part which I do apologize for, in terms of incomplete/insufficient permissions per the nuances of Wikipedia Commons standards) are not relevant to the ones currently in question, as none of them belong to any magazine or similar publication. I rest my case. Thank you very much for your understanding and consideration. 😊 Ajax151 (talk) 01:45, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- We have seen that the source web site allows blatantly false claims. Although the subject may have a license to use the image, it is very unusual for the photographer to allow a subject to freely license an image, so that must be proven with more evidence than a claim on a known problematic site. . Keep File:KELLIE EVERTS 1978.jpg No copyright registration. The others we need proof that they are not under an active copyright, by seeing where they were originally published or if they came from a non copyrighted publicity image. If you need them displayed in the article, you can load them to Wikipedia under "fair use", but I think only one fair use is allowed per article. Check at English Wikipedia.--RAN (talk) 00:50, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, Richard. That makes sense. And it looks like the remaining three are still currently under or pending review as well. Ajax151 (talk) 11:17, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Wouldn't it matter where it was published? If it was published in a magazine that renewed copyright for its issues, I wouldn't see why it would be in the public domain. Nighfidelity (talk) 17:20, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Someone found another File:Kellie Everts publicity photo by James J. Kriegsmann (1909-1994).jpg where there was no copyright registration. Generally publicity photos were not copyrighted until 1989, with exceptions, CBS and NBC had some publicity images with copyright notices as early as 1960 and the copyright notice was on the front in the lower margin. Even then they failed to register those images for copyright. It was required between 1978 and February 1989. If you can find more like that, uncropped, showing the margins, then it is easier to show that they are not under an active copyright. Keep looking and you may find more. Kriegsmann may have made more images. --RAN (talk) 17:01, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Keep No copyright registration for this publicity still. The show, Real People, is copyrighted but I cannot find any copyright registration for publicity stills for the show. It was required between 1978 and February 1989. This is similar to what we found for CBS, NBC, and ABC shows, they did not register publicity images, even when they had a copyright notice on the image. --RAN (talk) 17:49, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

The actual children's choir is obscured and out of focus in the background. I don't see any added value in this image and would like to delete it, especially considering the young child in the foreground. I am aware that the presence of children alone is not a ground for deletion; however, since I see no clear benefit and the primary subject is almost entirely hidden, I see no reason to upload uncensored images of children here. Uncertain whether the logo uploaded here has "uniqueness, individuality, and distinguishability" (English for "singularidad, individualidad, y distinguibilidad") for copyright protection under the Spanish law (COM:TOO Spain). After all, the organisation body is headquartered in Spain, so its logo should be subject to that law. George Ho (talk) 15:54, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
Another reason to delete the logo is, even if deemed unoriginal enough for further protection, its copyright in Spain as a typographical composition there (click/tap here). Those typographical compositions have twenty-five years of copyright protection... but as such. Since it was first released in 2016, the logo would be copyrighted until the exact end of 2041. In other words, at least fifteen more years from now. George Ho (talk) 16:06, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Per this Help Desk post and the talk page, this image has a mistake: an H is missing at the bottom of C5 (see this image for numbering). The file is in use, but looking through its uses in ENWP, each seems to discuss standard Sucrose rather than highlighting the error, so the usage of a file with the error does not seem to be intentional.
I propose deleting this file as COM:REDUNDANT and redirecting to File:Sucrose structure formula inkscape.svg which is nearly identical and without the error (not sure if there's a better way to redirect the existing uses). Consigned (talk) 16:16, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

File:Irina Konstantinovna Archipova - collezione Tino Barindelli.tif
The uploader brought here a long and fascinating history about the transfer of ownership of this particular paper postcard, but the problem is it has nothing to do with copyright. Neither Irina Arkhipova herself, who received one of the postcard copies, nor anyone else who came into its possession, became the photographer who took the photo. Then the uploader's next false claim arises that "the country of origin of this photograph is Italy" (well, yes, in Italy, all photographs are published with captions in Russian). In fact, this is an ordinary souvenir postcard, published in a print run of about 3,000 copies in the USSR for sale at w:Soyuzpechat newsstands. Fortunately for the uploader, there's still a little chance the photo will remain kept, since, judging by the logo, this postcard was issued by the LTB printing house in Riga, Latvian SSR (see other postcards from the same printing house: , , ). But, as we know, mass-market printing houses didn't produce high-quality professional photographs for postcards themselves, but rather received them centrally, in accordance with all the rules of the planned economy, from Moscow. So now, according to the COM:EVID policy, the uploader must prove that the image complies with copyright laws in Latvia and Russia, and, best of all, make some effort to find the name of the photographer, who most likely hasn't been dead for more than 70 years and the exact year of it's first legal publication. This work was deleted at Wikisource recently as a likely copyright violation. Not an edict of a government. My understanding is that this was a coalition meeting written by an armed insurgency group in Burma. So as it was published in 1956, it would've been URAA'd because it became public domain in Myanmar in 2006, after the 1996 URAA date. The file was marked, almost certainly incorrectly, as CC-BY 4.0.
