File:Kokkorevo1931.jpg

No information is provided about the map's authors. Topographic maps are collective works, and it's likely that the copyrights of some of the authors who compiled the map, which was published in the 1930s, have not yet expired in the Russian Federation. Authors may be listed in the map legend, which is not shown in this image, or on the packaging of the map sheet set. Yellow Horror (talk) 03:08, 16 January 2026 (UTC)

The authors can be found at the provided link at the bottom of the map (direct link), but the question is whether one can find information on the date of death of the listed people. Nakonana (talk) 18:08, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
  • No, the names of the authors cannot be established from the link, since the image provided there is an application of many individual cartographic sheets with different authors, while the parts indicating the authors are preserved only in the bottom row of sheets (which is not surprising for a pirated copy), and the sheet depicting Kokkorevo is in the top row.--Yellow Horror (talk) 02:36, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

File:Foto Ak Prinzessin Maria von Bayern, Portrait, Kette mit Anhänger.jpg

Per this enwiki edit summary from User:DrKay: it is an AI restored image that was already deleted once, and then reuploaded by a LTA sockpuppet after being flickrwashed through the meisterdrucke website, which acquired the image via commons in the first place.

The stated source at https://www.meisterdrucke.uk/fine-art-prints/German-Photographer/338599/Foto-Ak-Princess-Maria-of-Bavaria,-portrait,-necklace-with-pendant.html is currently a dead link. The original uploader User:GabrielDorneles was blocked in 2023 for uploading images with incorrect licences.

If the sourcing is circular from a Commons mirror site, we need to know where the original image came from and how much it's been edited. Belbury (talk) 10:15, 16 January 2026 (UTC)

I have left a talk page reply at User talk:Loopy30#Strigilodus illustration giving my reasoning, along with in the edit summary of my revert. I would say it is quite explicitly stated here that this image is only public domain if Paysnoe has opted to release it elsewhere, no evidence of which is provided in the file upload. I'm sorry this has gotten dragged out so long, it's a nice picture and I would be happy to learn it's usable on-site. The same goes for the other works by Paysnoe on the NPS site. Would contacting the artist if possible be the most appropriate course of action? Gasmasque (talk) 12:41, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
Sure. Contacting the artist is always an option. They even don't need confirm the PD status, but could release it under CC-BY or CC-BY-SA. --Túrelio (talk) 13:51, 16 January 2026 (UTC)

Is the "graphic work" here the bus photo? If it is an issue, it can be blurred. The bus image is not the main sign/focus of the photo. Per COM:DM; OK - "Copyrighted work X is identifiable and an unavoidable part of the subject but is not essential to the subject (removing it would not make the file useless)." Possibly deminimis under Canadian Law. If not, the bus image is not important so even if blurred the file does not require deletion.
So  Keep by adding {{Deminimis}} OR blurring the image of the bus. PascalHD (talk) 02:13, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
And what will be left of the picture if you blur both posters? Lukas Beck (talk) 20:38, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
Both? Only the right sign might need to be blurred. The left sign is not an issue. PascalHD (talk) 05:39, 24 January 2026 (UTC)

There is no freedom of panorama in Russia for sculpture and probably the photo violates sculptor's copyright. This is 1987 statue and protected with copyright in USA until 2083 (95+1 years from death) – in Russia maybe more, depends on when the sculptor G.F. Lankinen died. There is no freedom of panorama in Russia for sculpture and probably the photo violates sculptor's copyright. This is 1938 sculpture and protected with copyright in USA until 2034 (95+1 years from creation). Sculptor de:Hermann Brachert died in 1972 and the sculpture is copyrighted in source country Russia until 2047 (74+1 years from death). Taivo (talk) 20:26, 16 January 2026 (UTC)

74+1 or 70+1? The 70+1 are used if the author did not work during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945) and did not participate in it. The Great Patriotic War is a Soviet thing, but Brachert was German. Does the longer copyright protection term also apply to creative works by people from Nazi Germany? Did Germans participate in the "Great Patriotic War" or did they participate in "World War II"? Nakonana (talk) 19:47, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Participating is not necessary. I read {{PD-Russia}} carefully. The template says "did not work during the Great Patriotic War". Definitely he worked during the Great Patriotic War. Taivo (talk) 09:15, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
Uhm, the country sculpture was first "published" in (made and settled in a public place for a significant amount of time), was Third Reich (or Nazi Germany if you prefer). Russian copyright rules doesn't apply for such works. Красный wanna talk? 17:10, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
