Trump Coin design images

At this time we do not know if these images are public domain since we do not know if the designs were done by a Mint employee or an Artistic Infusion Program artist. Coin designs from Mint artists are PD, but the rights to coin designs from AIP artists are transferred to the Mint so they are non-free. See Commons:Determining if U.S. coins are free to use, which explains the distinction in more detail. Better to be safe than sorry, I recommend we delete these images until we have info on who created them. Eman7blue42 (talk page | recent edits) 14:31, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

  •  Keep as uploader and holy crap Batman, you need to inform the uploader when you nominate things. -Nard (Hablemonos) (Let's talk) 14:47, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
sorry! first time doing this I was getting to it. Eman7blue42 (talk page | recent edits) 14:56, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
As for the copyright, it is likely this particular design's copyright won't ever be announced, since this was the first draft and is not one of the current drafts. However I do notice they are putting artist initials on the ones in the Artistic Infusion Program, and this design does not have an initial on it. -Nard (Hablemonos) (Let's talk) 15:03, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
Artist initials are included when the design is sculpted. Candidate designs do not credit an artist to prevent bias among the committees that recommend coin designs, and usually the designs are a mix of AIP and Mint artists. We probably won't known if any of these designs are PD until the coin is released. Eman7blue42 (talk page | recent edits) 15:18, 29 December 2025 (UTC)

The Youtube channel has only one subscribed and this is the only video there. The owner of the channel is not the film maker, but the curator of the exhibition and in fact is interviewd in the video, see video at 1:46. The video was also published a couple of days later, without a permissive license, in the channel https://www.youtube.com/@NewRealizm/videos that host several videos about the StarkArt exhibitions, but it is also difficult to judge if it is an official channel. Rodrigolopes (talk) 21:57, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, About my File:Place Concorde en février 2014 07.jpg, the object shown is just a simple diamond shape. It is not sufficiently original to qualify as protectable by french copyright (droit d'auteur) as the work must "reflects the personality of its author". A very common diamond shape is not original enough for that. Regards. Lionel Allorge (talk) 23:09, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I don't see why my File:Pieuvre GZ'UP.png would have to be deleted. Could someone explain? I'm no law expert, but I hardly see how it can violate copyrights, as I'm the author of the photography, and as its pictured objet is freely accessible to anyone going to Paris. How could a publicly and permanently visible item be forbidden to photography? Isn't it automatically a part of the public domain, since its author left it in the outside, without even putting it there legally (some people would say it's a kind of vandalism), and since anyone can modify it without any consequence? If I just droped a piece of paper on the road, wouldn't its original content be free of copyright in the exact same way? And what about a public sculpture or building? It has an author, sure (the sculptor or the architect), but since it's permanently visible to anyone and on a public space, it seems to me that it must be free of copyright, at least for photography. --Grelot-de-Bois (talk) 04:22, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

No Freedom of panorama in France, so the copyright on the octopus applies and you thus cannot publish your photograph under a Free licence. Rama (talk) 06:13, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, don't understand why the image File:Revendication.jpg would to be deleted. Please check your understanding of french copyright laws. Available to help if needed. --Eric Walter (talk) 07:59, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Eric Walter, my understanding is that there is no freedon of panorama in France, except when the work is an "accessory compared to the main represented or handled subject". Rodrigolopes (talk) 11:24, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
Hi Rodrigolopes and thanks for answering. So you consider the street paint as a protected work ? Because freedom of panorama is only for protected work outside. --Eric Walter (talk) 08:10, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Rodrigolopes and thank you for the time you spend improving WP. About the File:StreetArt Paris RueHautefeuille.jpeg, I met the author of the drawing withing the no entry sign. Oops, I have just read https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_Panorama_in_Europe_in_2015. I hope it is not too late...  Keep new versions

--Paris 16 (talk) 13:13, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Those are often not really much better than the previous versions. Simply blurring something is not enough to void copyright. It must be sufficiently different to not be a derivative work. Stuff like File:Rue de la Lune, Paris 25 June 2015.jpg is not sufficiently different. So the decision is still the same: Either we assume that these are not copyrighted or the author will not assert their copyright then these can stay in their unblurred form. If we assume that these are copyrighted then the blurred version is still a derivative work and we need the author's permission. Regards, --ChrisiPK (Talk|Contribs) 15:55, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

The photo was taken with the sole purpose of illustrating the artwork not the building, just read the filename and description, i.e., the artwork is no accessory. Also, the tower was built in the 1950s, see en:Tower 13, so it still likely protected as an architectural work in France (70 years pma). Günther Frager (talk) 11:47, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

The uploader might have taken these photos, but it is not clear if he is Ludo the creator of the artworks. Notice that many of these images were taken on Paris and France has no freedom of panorama.

I found some similar postings from Reddit by this user https://www.reddit.com/user/Finn-The-Wizard/ who goes by C34. So probably not own work. Biotti

This gallery page was created by the long-term cross-wiki spammer Alec Smithson, is embellished with falsehoods, and many images have been deleted from it. Much like the spurious connection between the unrelated Natoli and Nanteuil families, the alleged connections between the Italian Biotti family and people and places named Biot in France are likely made up. In most countries, all paintings, sculpture, architecture, text, and other creative works have copyrights which last for 70 years after the death of the creator. An image of a work that is still under copyright is a derivative work, and infringes on the copyright so that we cannot usually keep the image on Commons. In some countries, there is a special exception to the copyright law which allows such images under certain circumstances. We call that exception freedom of panorama (FOP). Unfortunately there is no applicable FOP exception in Romania.

I'd like to think so, but some of what's on COM:TOO France troubles me: 'For an art exhibition, a man placed the word paradis with gold lettering above the bathroom door of the old dormitory of alcoholics at a psychiatric facility, and termed it artwork; the French courts agreed with him that it was copyrightable based on the aesthetic choices made ("affixing the word 'paradise' in gold with patina effect and a special graphics on dilapidated door, the lock-shaped cross, encased in a crumbling wall with peeling paint").' That does sound more involved than this, though. So likely  Keep. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:57, 7 February 2026 (UTC)

Jahfaby (talk) 15:41, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

No freedom of panorama for 2d works in New Zealand. The Egyptian Garden was opened to the public in 2022 and recently created so the graphics would still be copyright. There are other images in the category containing the mural but COM:DEMINIMIS should apply to them, although I recommend someone more experienced than myself judge that.

I tagged it for speedy deletion with COM:CSD#F7 since there isn't a thumbnail generated but Johnj1995 removed it since the file Does not appear to be corrupt according to them. File:Moscow, 1992. leaflet Labor Russia.jpg

This document does not fall under "PD-RU-exempt" because it: 1) is not an official document of state or local government agencies, as the "Labor Russia" movement was a public, not a governmental organization; 2) is not a state symbol or sign nor symbol or sign of a municipal formation; 3) is not a work of folk art as it has specific authors; 4) is not a news reports of events and facts of a purely informational character, as it contains developed value judgments, a call to action, and instructions for participants.
