Draft Outline

Step 8.2) set the batch mode to Commons (batch mode only!)
Step 9) QuickStatements "Run" button
  1. find a category
  2. Petscan it (link in top right under header "Actions")
  3. In Petscan, go to output tab to get list of files (plain text format is fine)
    1. One can also get a PagePile id via the output tab, which is useful for saving the collection for future reference
  4. copy and paste that to minefield to get media ids (mids)
    1. https://hay.toolforge.org/minefield/
    2. Minefield is a tool to convert commons file page titles to media ids
  5. Using "Commons Cat QS tpl" paste the raw minefield output into column A of the sheet named "colA"
  6. steps I'm left out here! update P180s, etc on other input sheet.
    1. Typically the qal5102 and S887 are left set to approximation (Q27058) and inferred from Commons category (Q133818885) respectively
  7. Using google sheets "Commons Cat QS tpl," export csv of sheet named "out"
  8. Cut and paste the csv contents to quickstatements
    1. https://quickstatements.toolforge.org/#/batch
    2. Be sure to set the batch mode to Commons [batch mode only!] (set the "form-control" field to "commons") in the top left dropdown.
    3. Click the button Import CSV commands
  9. Review the statements in the queue to ensure they look as you intended. Check the operation count in the top right. If all looks well, click run

Notes

3.1
One can also get a PagePile id for output, which is useful for saving the collection of items for future reference, but sadly minefield's PagePile implementation does not seem to accept that PagePile, so you'll still need to cut and paste the file names below
6
Incomplete. Refers to the sheet other input of Commons Cat QS tpl spreadsheet
