Out of scope low quality AI image The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 05:42, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Keep. File is admittedly low quality, but that does not mean it's out of scope. The image was uploaded to illustrate a specific motif in the history of theology (the reception of St. Thomas as the “terminator” of theology in modern American neo-Thomism). It was in use when it was uploaded and is in use now.--Jordi (talk) 08:59, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Keep for now per COM:INUSE. However, the file is of low-quality and doesn't seem very relevant+useful at the place where it's used. There, it has the caption The modern turn to Thomas Aquinas as the “terminator” (completer) of theology in the American Catholicism of 21. Century, illustrated by an AI image generator based on ideas by Thomas Marschler and Anian Christoph Wimmer. I think one should ask about it at the talk page there and if the file gets removed one could delete it from Commons – however, I see no genuine need to delete this one small file but wouldn't oppose deletion at that point. Prototyperspective (talk) 09:20, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
I deliberately uploaded this file to illustrate exactly what is explained in the caption and what the image represents: A representation of Aquinas as the "terminator" of theology by American right-wing Catholics, using AI. This is a legitimate scope and Commons has not to interfere with the contents of another project.--Jordi (talk) 09:56, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Delete I don’t see how this image, which is taken from an article about Thomas’s possible views on AI, has anything to do with some pun about the terminator that in itself seems extremely unencyclopedic. Dronebogus (talk) 19:28, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Delete the only place where the image is currently used is an article on dewiki, however, the usage of this AI-generated image on dewiki goes against dewiki policy on AI-generated images. The relevant policy can be found at w:de:Wikipedia:Künstliche Intelligenz and states that AI-generated images are only to be used to illustrate Ai topics, or, in rare cases, after forming consensus to use a particular AI-generated image in a particular article (but no such discussion can be found on the talk page of the dewiki article in question). Nakonana (talk) 16:56, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
The dewiki article in question: w:de:Thomismus. Nakonana (talk) 16:59, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
That's not true, the usage of this AI-generated image on dewiki does explicitely not go against dewiki policy on AI-generated images, because I put it there delibertely as an example of AI-powered (mis-)conception of Thomism by the American TradCath movement.

Gallo Shabo was born 1876 and passed away 1966 in Aynwardo. He was not 40 years old in this photograph, it was taken during the later years of his life. Reason the date says 1915 must be because it was just entered as the year he was active during Sayfo (the Aramean genocide). On top of that, there is no source mentioning it was taken 1915. File:Statue with a longhorn symbol.jpg

This statue in Austin, Texas was erected for the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Texas Longhorn Band - which was in 1900, so the statue went up in 2000. The USA has no freedom of panorama for three-dimensional works, and even if the sculptor died the day the statue was unveiled, it would still be under copyright until 2071 at the earliest. DS (talk) 13:55, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Welcome to absurdity of the Wonderland behind the mirror/the ocean

You say: The USA has no freedom of panorama for three-dimensional works.

I noticed that every building is a three-dimensional work of architecture, isn't it? So how am I allowed to picture any building? The author's right will make him forgotten as none of his works is allowed to be depicted.

Human rights make me angry, because I want this statute to be known, help the sculptor to be known, to say I was happy when was passing these paths of Texas University. And you tell me: You are human/author right offender for trying to harm the sculptor...

It would be at least useful to ask the author of the sculpture...

Sincerely

Xerostomus (talk) 17:24, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

I understand why this feels absurd and frustrating. I've often felt this way about public art that I can photograph but can't upload.
In US law, buildings are treated differently from sculptures: photographs of buildings are explicitly allowed, but most sculptures are still protected by copyright. Wikimedia Commons has to follow those rules even when they don't make much sense. See COM:FOP for all the messy details worldwide.
This isn't about human rights or accusing anyone of wrongdoing. It's just about what Commons is legally allowed to host. You are, of course, free to take photos for personal use or on sites with different rules.
If you can contact the sculptor and get permission, that’s often the best solution. Please see COM:VRTS for details about appropriate forms.--Prosfilaes (talk) 01:58, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

The file contains just general {{PD-KG-exempt}} license, but it does not seem that the conditions of Commons:Audio#A note about copyright were met. Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:10, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Applies also to File:National Anthem of Bophuthatswana (1977-1994) BOP TV official recording.ogg. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:13, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
One more note: There is also no license tag giving any information why it should be in the PD in the United States and I believe it is copyrighted in the United States because of the reasons given above (for example it violates recording rights and the rights of interpreters). So, because no evidence that the file does not violate copyright has been given since the nomination several months ago, I suggest deleting it soon. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:18, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

File:Flag of Russian Liberation People's Army.svg

This is not the real flag and this is some false information. In the source, it states clearly it was not the official flag at all and was a fake. Discussions on the Axis History Forum confirm a real flag and not this one. This should be deleted as this is false information and used for years to deceive people. https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=291453&p=2612783#p2612783  Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-56713-2 (talk  contribs) 12:51, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Keep per Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Fictional flags of historical entities (to be replaced and deleted). In use on 10+ wikis.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 23:16, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Keep as said by @Jeff G., this flag is used on several wikis... I don't understand this action to propose the deletion... Groumphy (talk) 05:55, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Keep as per written evidence of being the Flag of the Lokot Autonomy described by its founder Konstantin Voskoboinik and was used for the party as well as for Lokot: "a white cloth with the image of St. George the Victorious and the St. George's Cross in the upper left corner of the banner". The Russian Wiki article links the source for that. The flag is therefore not fake.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Empire1799 (talk  contribs) 20:24, 30 January 2026 (UTC)

Other images excessively focused on the Burj Khalifa and other buildings were deleted due to the freedom of panorama being only for broadcasts in the UAE. Candidyeoman55 (talk) 23:39, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Indeed, must be  Deleted. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:13, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
