File:Metal X (exe oc) by MikoPlushie.jpg

Character is clearly a derivative of (Neo) Metal Sonic, unlike File:Floee the Fox graphic - 2019.png, which is based on a typical fox in the Sonic art style (art style is not copyrighted). Also, unlike File:Scribbly Silver the Hedgehog.svg, the design here is close to the canon counterpart's. PrincessPandaWiki (talk) 02:53, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

Delete I don't think it looks particularly like the image here. However, I don't see how it's in scope. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 08:26, 11 January 2026 (UTC)
I uploaded the image specifically to use it in the Wikipedia article w:Sonic the Hedgehog fandom. It was in scope per COM:INUSE before PrincessPanda reverted it.
Edit: I'm voting  Keep, obviously. The designs are different enough.
Edit 2: Proof that it was in use. Also, it's been almost two months, come on.

  • If I use AI to crop any public domain photo, will you also demand its removal from Commons? Are we getting paranoid? A public domain photo cannot be modified on anyone's computer using any application! How many photos currently uploaded to Commons have been cropped, rotated, or filtered in some way? Should they all be removed? Abraham (talk) 07:04, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

Keep. I would argue that since the subject of this photo is the menu itself, the individual food items qualify as COM:DEMINIMIS. They are incidentally included, but not the primary focus. The COM:DEMINIMIS page mentions that cases where Copyrighted work X is identifiable but is a small part of a larger work, so that the larger work cannot easily be shown without showing X and Copyrighted work X is a part of the larger work, and its inclusion is unavoidable as being OK Very likely, and I think that applies here. Karl Hofer died in 1955, so these works are in the public domain in Germany now. However, all of these paintings were created after 1930, so (because of the URAA) they are still protected by copyright in the United States, and the files should be deleted.

They can be restored 95 + 1 years after creation (assuming publication in the year they were created) or 95 + 1 years after first publication if that is known to be later than the year of creation. I will add notes and undeletion categories.

Point 2 of the law cited in the template expands this to a broader range of communications from the government, noting that these are also not objects of copyright. It does later prohibit modification of these works, but this is pretty clearly a non-copyright restriction. There are similar restrictions for certain types of US Government works, but we allow these because they are statutorily in the public domain like this. IronGargoyle (talk) 08:46, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Delete We do not allow media based on § 5 (2) UrhG for a reason. The prohibition to modify is not a non-copyright restriction, it is the same as the -ND clauses in the Creative Commons licenses, and we specifically disallow those (Commons:Licensing#Forbidden licenses) for the same reason. The German Wikipedia does not allow § 5 (2) UrhG files as well for the same reason (de:Wikipedia:Bildrechte#Amtliche Werke). --Rosenzweig τ 09:58, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Upon closer examination, I think that poster is below COM:TOO Germany, not original enough for copyright protection. So while what I wrote about § 5 (2) Urh stands, I don't think deletion is necessary in this particular case. --Rosenzweig τ 11:16, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Finding the sculptors of commemorative plaques in Russia seems near impossible via internet (in my experience). All the information I could find is that the plaque is located at the Yurin Street. The street is named after the Soviet hero who is depicted in the plaque, and the street was named after him in 1950, so that one could make an educated guess that the plaque was probably unveiled on that occasion to celebrate the renaming of the street. No clue regarding the sculptor of the plaque, unfortunately. Nakonana (talk) 13:15, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
