File:Jorge Añaños Jerí.jpg

There is a conflicting licensing issue, as the company website states: Industrias San Miguel – ISM. © 2024 ISM (Embotelladora San Miguel del Sur SAC) una empresa de Jorge Añaños Jerí. © Todos los derechos reservados (Industrias San Miguel – ISM. © 2024 ISM (Embotelladora San Miguel del Sur SAC) a company of Jorge Añaños Jerí. © All rights reserved); however, only the image has a caption claiming a Creative Commons license. It's possible the user who uploaded the image to Commons is the webmaster (and desperately seeks a way to get the photo accepted), but there is no clarity regarding the copyright boundaries of the website, and this seems confusing. Due to this contradiction, I'm requesting clarification. Taichi (talk) 04:43, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

I understand the concern regarding the conflicting licensing information. To resolve this, I have requested that the copyright holder (Industrias San Miguel) send a formal permission email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org using the standard VRT release template. This will provide a permanent record that the 'All Rights Reserved' footer on the website does not apply to this specific file. Crivasc (talk) 13:47, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Commons is neither the place to protect one's own art, nor to circumvent the copyright of recently deceased artists through such "adaptations". Marcus Cyron (talk) 05:12, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

FriedeWie (talk) 10:01, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

There are plenty of other station entrances that have been left alone due to the de minimis clause. Suddenly a whole bunch of them are considered FoP violations. In this case the ad stands out a little more. Nevertheless, this photo was not intended for the ad. ----DanTD (talk) 22:11, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Keep since the ad is already blurred. And "You blurred it, that means this is not de minimis" is not a valid logic. COM:DM #4 literally has examples where a user has the option to blur and it would still be de minimis even without it. S5A-0043🚎 03:47, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

Filed on behalf of User:Pentachlorphenol per User_talk:Túrelio#File:Düsseldorfer_Siegel_mit_dem_Jackwerth_Radschläger.jpg, who had speedy-tagged it previously as advertising due to the sticker on the Postbox.-- Túrelio (talk) 10:46, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Keep. IMO, the photo could stay, as it shows (half of) a special type of official postboxes with 2 slots for different destinations and the sticker shows an emblem of Düsseldorf (the cartwheeler). File:J. F. Bando letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt in reaction to first Fireside Chat. - NARA - 198124.tif

The transcription for this was just deleted at English Wikisource as a potential copyright violation. The entire rationale: "1933, presumably unpublished letter. As Beardo pointed out on my talk page, though the Commons file lists this as {{PD-USGov}}, this does not appear to actually be a work of the US federal government, but is from a thus unidentified member of the public. Without knowing a death year, I think we'd have to go with the "anonymous or pseudonymous" rules on unpublished materials, which state that the letter would be creation + 121 years. This would place it under copyright until 2054. Commons also claims that this was part of the NARA cooperation effort. NARA "provides images depicting American and global history which are public domain or licensed under a free license" according to that template, so maybe they came to some copyright determination? I don't think it just being held by NARA releases its copyright, though, does it?" SnowyCinema (talk) 12:41, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

File:J. F. Bando letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt in reaction to first Fireside Chat. - NARA - 198124.jpg will also need to be deleted if this is. SnowyCinema (talk) 12:43, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Comment Is there any reason not to think that J.F. Bando is the John F. Bando (1859-1943) listed at https://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/results?firstName=john&lastName=bando ? - Jmabel ! talk 18:46, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I don't think we should assume that without more specific evidence for it. I've gone on journeys on the web trying to find specific author names, found a record that looked plausible, and then been proven completely wrong about who it was later. So the lesson I learned is, never assume that only a birth and death year + vague middle name justifies an identification. I think especially to prove legal copyright status, it needs to be near-100% confidence in the identification. So, I think we need more evidence.
Counterpoint to this identification: The letter was said to be sent from 2232 18th Street, Brooklyn, N.Y., yet the proposed John F. Bando died in rural Nebraska. SnowyCinema (talk) 07:20, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

A fair point - on which criteria we also need to remove Flag Map of Greenland (United States of America).png.
The British and Canadian versions have a justification in that at the time of the cession of the Danish West Indies to the United States, the British Foreign Office sought an assurance from the Danish government that if Denmark were ever to dispose of Greenland, the British Empire would have a right of first refusal. It is unclear whether such an assurance was given in writing (it would have been difficult for the Danish government to acknowledge it publicly while its powerful neighbour, Germany, was at war with Britain) but the claim has been asserted lately, during the recent Greenland crisis. A claim by the British Empire under that right of first refusal might now belong to Canada - hence the flag maps.

Files in Category:Book covers from Shan

The copyright status of the works is unclear, but they looks old. They are claimed as "own work," but photographing or scanning a book cover does not automatically make it uploaders own work. Information regarding the publication dates of the books and authors name are missing. Are they still living? With the correct information, they are maybe {{PD-Myanmar}} eligible. Otherwise, delete.

This is not a navy photograph, the signature shows that the photography was taken by Lorstan studios http://www.lorsstudio.com/about-us/our-history/ Could be PD via PD-US-expired but evidence of that is needed to host the image. The description also lists a copyright owner, although I cannot find the image in the collection Traumnovelle (talk) 21:38, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Reluctantly, because I think it’s a lovely picture, I must say  Delete per no apparent evidence that it was released by the Navy. And if it wasn’t, Lorstan’s copyright wouldn’t be expired because the photograph was taken after 1931. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 02:25, 7 February 2026 (UTC)

Blurry, small, low quality, unused images, likely not within project scope - some possible copyvios as well

Geoffroi 23:04, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

why are you deleting everysing one of my photos? just because they may not be used, i still took all of them and spent time on them. Minecraft11226 (talk) 23:35, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
not all of them are blury Minecraft11226 (talk) 23:35, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
File:Damage to the store during the tornado.jpg is a copyright violation from Facebook. File:Games on a shelf.png and the others are not very well focused and they don't have any educational value. Geoffroi 00:47, 30 January 2026 (UTC)

what about clay windmills Minecraft11226 (talk) 13:13, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
It would be better to place them on a table in better light and get a closer, more detailed image. As regards the choice of camera, I think you'd be fine with a modern smartphone camera. Geoffroi 18:19, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
I took that with a 30 dollar camera that's 3 years old. but I could retake them Minecraft11226 (talk) 19:13, 2 February 2026 (UTC)

Out of scope: unused, short video panning across a flag (probably File:Flag of the President of Russia.svg). Unlikely to be useful in this form. Omphalographer (talk) 23:01, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi, I uploaded this because I couldn't find any videos of the Russian flag in this format. It's not on Wikimedia Commons, and it's not a file copied from any other site. It's simply for informational purposes and to help Wikipedia grow. Thank you very much. Womenation (talk) 23:12, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
But why a video? We already have images of this flag (which is - as an aside - not the flag of Russia); what additional value does a video provide? Omphalographer (talk) 23:13, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I understand your position, but there are no videos with the flag and the double-headed eagle incorporated into Wikimedia Commons; having it here is an important historical value. Womenation (talk) 23:17, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Delete per nom: not useful to brew a video for the heck of having a video. The video contains nothing beyond File:Flag of the President of Russia.svg, it is bloated and fully redundant, out of SCOPE. Taylor 49 (talk) 01:32, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
But there's no video on Wikimedia Commons of the full Russian flag, only that image. I think it enriches Wikimedia. Womenation (talk) 03:28, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
