Summary

Description High expansion intumescent. The black "blob" started out as a small orange chunk, just like the one that is shown, after being in a furnace @ 500°F for about an hour. Intumescents are used in passive fire protection as components in firestops, fireproofing, fire damper grids instead of mechanical closures inside and gaskets for fire doors.
