Die Grösse der Kugeln ist irreführend, weil die Raumerfüllung der Atome wesentlich grösser ist, wie man im Kalottenmodell sehen kann, und weil die Atomkerne um viele Grössenordnungen kleiner sind. In manchen Stäbchenmodellen lässt man die Kugeln daher weg.

The size of the balls is misleading because the space-filling of the atoms is significantly greater, as can be seen in the calotte model, and because the atomic nuclei are many orders of magnitude smaller. In some stick models, the balls are therefore left out.
