Vector 2022 causes Preferences page to go dark mode
I am using MediaWiki version 1.43.5. We use Vector 2022 as the default skin. When I go to the Preferences page, it switches to dark mode ( I have the skin configured to use Light mode). It's not just me, this happens with every other user who is using the Vector 2022 skin + light mode.
We only see this behavior with the Vector 2022 skin--the Vector Legacy (2010), Citizen, Monobook, and Timeless skins do not go to dark mode when the Preferences page is visited.
I have made sure to use the latest download of the Vector skin. Any help in diagnosing and fixing this issue is appreciated!
Thank you! Jbubz (talk) 00:46, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Jbubz This likely means that the server default for Vector is configured to use dark mode. When you are on preferences page (and login and create account), all user specific customizations get disabled and the page uses the server defaults. This is to avoid security problems and/or people locking themselves out of their accounts. —TheDJ (Not WMF) (talk • contribs) 12:52, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Is there a way to get rid of the sticky bar on top? (Vector 2022)
When logged in, on any article after scrolling down there's a relatively thick bar on top, with the search icon, menu icon, and Wikipedia logo on the left end, then on the right end the messages icon, history icon, watch icon (star), edit icon, language icon with count and dropdown, and user icon with dropdown. It obscures the top few lines of text and is a distraction when it slides in.
When not logged in, the only sticky element is the menu icon, in the far left corner. This is what I would prefer to have.
Short of straight-up blocking the bar with a content-blocking addon, I have not found a way to get rid of that element in Special:Preferences.
Please let me know if and how this is doable. 5ucur (talk) 00:51, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Why isn't the Wikipedia 25th anniversary logo available in Vietnamese?
While languages like Chinese, English, and others are available, Vietnamese is not on Vector 2022 and 2010. Manhdeptraipro2114 (talk) 10:36, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Manhdeptraipro2114 The Wikipedia 25th logo is not universally applied to every wiki. Each wiki community has the liberty to decide whether they want to and for how long they will display it. There was a discussion on Vietnamese wiki about the 25th logo. If you wish to have the logo on Vietnamese wiki, the best thing to do is to talk to the community about this. Hope this helps!

When a language link is clicked..
This is noticed on Telugu Wikipedia, on Windows 11, in Chrome browser Version 146.0.7680.178 (Official Build) (64-bit).
When a language link is clicked with Control button pressed, the link opens in a new tab - as expected. But, simultaneously the link is opened in the current tab too, which is an unexpected behaviour. This has been noticed in the last two or three weeks. Please correct it so that the link opens ONLY in new tab.

- You have most likely enabled the new language selector beta feature. Feel free to turn it off while we address this issue in the new version. Nikerabbit (talk) 06:46, 16 April 2026 (UTC)
