Readers/WE3.6 Consumer strategy
Our objective is to finalize, publish, and communicate a strategy for the Wikipedia reader and consumer experience across platforms by end of Q4, with defined goals and baseline metrics, developed in collaboration with stakeholders and the community, to guide our work through 2030.
Context
This KR will ensure that work on the consumer strategy will continue, with a focus on building and communicating the strategy internally as well as with the community and defining and establishing core metrics for consumers, and their respective baselines.
Projects
Our hypothesis is that if we run an A/A test on retention rate for logged-out users, we will establish a baseline for retention rate we can use for future quarters. Owner is Jennifer, delegate owner is Olga.
- WE3.6.2 Logged-in reader definition
Our hypothesis is that if we create and publish a definition of logged-in reader, we will be able to use this definition across all teams and hypotheses related to the WE 3.3 KR. Owner is Olga, delegate owner is Jazmin.
- WE3.6.3 Community reader conversations
Our hypothesis is that if we engage communities in conversations about the evolving needs of readers, and about the changing nature of knowledge on the internet, we can build a shared focus on how to serve readers and work together on whether and how to test our various ideas (including those around multimedia, search and discovery, and machine learning). Owner is Eliza, delegate owner is Olga.
- WE3.6.4 Reader research
Our hypothesis is that if we research the distinct motivations, behaviours, and needs behind when, why and how readers use Wikipedia and other knowledge platforms, we will be able to propose priority areas and specific initiatives for the consumer strategy. Owner is Mike, delegate owner is Olga.
