Sharing WMF and Endowment Form 990s
The Wikimedia Foundation and the Wikimedia Endowment published their Form 990s, covering the fiscal year that ran from July 2024 to June 2025. The Form 990 is an annual form required of all nonprofit organizations in the United States. You can read highlights on Diff and get answers to frequently asked questions about Form 990 for the Foundation and Form 990 for the Endowment on Meta-Wiki. Eureka-WMF (talk) 16:41, 19 May 2026 (UTC)

Speedy deletion in the Arabic Wikipedia
Hello everyone,
I have been contributing to the Arabic Wikipedia for a while. I keep facing the same administrative problems, so I am asking here for advice.
The main issues I see are:
Articles that clearly meet notability rules are deleted without discussion. The admin does not say which part of the speedy deletion policy was used. When I ask, the admin either ignores me or sends me to a "deletion request page" that stays unanswered for months.
Other admins usually defend the deleting admin personally. They do not look at the problem itself.
The Arabic Wikipedia has no working independent body to review admin actions or handle complaints.
I think these problems may also exist in other small Wikipedias. I would be grateful for any advice on how to deal with this or suggestions for a neutral mechanism to handle such behavior.
Thank you. Mutasim Elmahadi (talk) 06:55, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Mutasim Elmahadi: as a starting point, I suggest reaching out to one of the global sysops and asking them to comment here with their advice, preferably to one of them whose user page indicates that they can understand the Arabic language. They may have suggestions for how to proceed. While I doubt that they will have an easy solution, their cross-wiki experience may be helpful for providing advice. ↠Pine (✉) 14:35, 21 May 2026 (UTC)

Follow-up to my previous message
To: The Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) and the global Wikimedia community
Subject: Drawing on experience to help reform administrative practices
I have been an active Wikimedian for four years, contributing to 21 projects with over 30,000 global edits. My academic background is in Library and Information Science (PhD), specializing in digital content and open access.
Through my modest but sufficient experience, I have observed how recurring administrative patterns – such as arbitrary speedy deletions, the failure of local appeals, and a culture of solidarity among some admins – can discourage contributors and create barriers to free knowledge.
To clarify what is meant by "solidarity among admins" in this context: - The required positive solidarity: standing with the new or inexperienced user, explaining policies kindly, and helping them understand and correct their mistakes, based on the principle of "assume good faith". This type benefits the encyclopedia and encourages participation. - The negative, biased solidarity (which I have documented in my experience): where solidarity becomes a "defensive wall" around a fellow admin who made an incorrect decision (such as deleting a clearly notable article), solely because it came from a colleague, instead of correcting or guiding them. This type makes it harder to correct administrative errors and hinders effective review mechanisms.
My goal is not to highlight my own case, but to offer my experience and insights to help improve the administrative environment, especially for new and less experienced users. I believe that fair, transparent, and humane interactions are essential for knowledge equity.
I am ready to assist, as a volunteer, in developing practical solutions: whether through monitoring, mentoring, or simply contributing to a constructive dialogue on how to apply policies with empathy. I hope my record and qualifications speak for themselves.
I am open to any discussion on how I could best serve this goal. Mutasim Elmahadi Mutasim Elmahadi (talk) 05:12, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Is there data available for CentralNotice recruitment?
When we run a campaign that involves a CentralNotice banner, do we have data available about click-throughs? Like the number of people who sign up after clicking the banner, or number of logged-in users who click it, and so on? Seems there's sometimes a decision of whether to show a banner to all users to logged in users, and the extent to which similar banners have been effective with either group could inform future decisions. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 12:18, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Rhododendrites: Professional campaigns have tracking enabled that is logged in the data lake, including displays, clicks and closes when they are logged through schemas. This can only be accessed by NDA-ed users, particularly WMF and WMDE staff.
However, CentralNotice admins who are also Wikimedia Stewards can also access Turnilo where there is limited data, see Help:CentralNotice/Metrics, but this is also NDA-ed and not everything can be shared publicly. Alongside, Pageviews can be tracked anyway and often equal "clicks".
Am I right in assuming that you are interested in data about one specific campaign? Maybe I can help with the Turnilo data. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:31, 2 June 2026 (UTC) PS: Talk:CentralNotice would have been a better place to ask, just saying. :)
Community consensus for Health Challenge 2026 CentralNotice
Hi. As part of propagation of the Health Challenge 2026 I ask for the community consensus for publishing CentralNotice. The CentralNotice campaign should be vastly multilingual and oriented to logged-in users. I will mark the page for translation in next hours. If you have objections, please, state them now. Thanks for your support for global health. KuboF Hromoslav (talk) 20:03, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- @KuboF Hromoslav you'll need to coordinate with communities on those wikis where you want the banner to be shown – that's probably not Metawiki. Johannnes89 (talk) 14:24, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

Deployment of Legal and Safety Contacts Link in the Footer of Your Wiki
Hello community,
The Wikimedia Foundation has provided a single legal and safety contact page, to be linked in the footer of your wiki, to ensure access to accurate legal information. This is a regulatory requirement.
We have already rolled out links to English, German, Italian, Spanish Wikipedias and other wikis. We will deploy to your wiki soon.
Please read more on the project page and leave any comments in this thread or on the talk page. –– STei (WMF) (talk) 17:46, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
